Seriously - Rs.15 crores ?
I wonder who paid for this and whether such a large amount is not better used elsewhere !

When I visited Puri, the priests would always call me aside and say - you are very fortunate; mother has specially asked for a sari from you. Give Rs. 4000 and above - so that a silk sari can be procured for her -- Mother does n't ask this from everybody..

I said - I cannot worship a goddess who asks for such expensive saris, when her living daughters do not have money to drape their bodies.. And walk away, as they cursed me.. But I could see others falling victims.

The other thing they would try to do, is deliberately put sindoor one me..

Despite these obnoxious elements, the energy in the temple was beautiful - I felt that was perhaps the greatest gift our forefathers have left us,

I see it everywhere in the so called temples of power. The people who "donate" more are given more privileges rather than those who are seriously devout. It pains me very much and have started to lose my faith in such places of "Worship".

Very true and very sad. Since the external world is a reflection of our inner world, inner life , it makes me wonder about what we have become collectively, to bring about such ethical and moral bankruptcy in our places of worship. Our inner climate has become polluted. God is the most neglected and disrespected idea in the world after women, the girl child and the elderly. May Thakur and Ma do something urgently about it.

Dr. Rajagopal Kunnatur, ..

Most of the donation is about tax deduction or getting rid of unaccounted money...

I had once read about a foreign couple whose personal motto was to help any honest, sincere and hard working person/couple -- not a loan; full cash.. Eg they had visited NE India and there they met a gentleman who started out as their informal tour guide -- they realised if he had a car, he will be able to improve his business of a tiny retail shop... So, they gave him money for a 2nd hand car... Several years went by, they checked back on him.. And then they gave him money for a down payment on his home..

This way they had helped several people across the globe as they traveled - only criteria - simple, honest, hard -working people who seemed like they could use some extra cash to improve life dramatically..

Very few people have such a large heart to give so generously, to total strangers..

Regards,
Anindita
