Power of the Name – 23
Tajjapastadartha bhāvanam says Patanjali - when you do japa think of him. Padārtham - the artham or the meaning of that word, the mantra is God himself. When you do Japa, you must be conscious of your doing it. Even if you do mechanically, it will have the effect. Holy Mother said, “If you throw a cloth into water or if it falls down into the water, it will get wet.” But if you drop it, you will wash it clean, that is the result. So, if you keep on doing the Japa consciously, it will have tremendous effect. Artham of the mantram is God himself. Artha bhavanam - thinking of the Artham, means thinking of God, remembering God.
