SINCE SO MANY people have wanted to write the person and name of Jesus -
even his title Christ or Messiah - out of the A.R.E. and its Mission Statement,
which people the A.R.E. catered to and is still catering to, it may come as a
great surprise to many what the following Edgar Cayce Reading quote says
about the book most quoted by and most promoted by the Edgar Cayce Readings -
The Holy Bible:
Edgar Cayce Reading 5322-1
For from the very first of the Old Testament, to the very last even of Revelation,
[Jesus] is not merely the subject of the Book, He is the author in the greater part,
having given to man the mind and the purpose for its having been put in print.
The Holy Bible - that book that Edgar so loved, and his wife Gertrude so respected.
Were it not for that book, there would be no A.R.E. nor its campus, employees, et cetera.
It was because of Edgar's knowledge of what Jesus had done - healing the sick -
that Edgar most wanted to heal the sick too, especially children. That is what Edgar
wished to do, more than anything else in life. And God granted him his wish.
As a tribute to that greatest book of all books The Holy Bible, and its greatest subject
and author - that soul last incarnate as Messiah Jesus of Nazareth - I offer the following
Edgar Cayce Reading quotes about The Holy Bible. May they feed the spirit and mind
and body and life of all who read them:

Read the scriptures (1376-1).
But begin to read the Scripture (5124-1).
Read a portion of scripture...daily (3328-1).
Read it to be wise. Study it to understand (262-60).
Read the Book, if you would get educated (3647-1).
For regular periods, let there be...the reading of the Book, the Bible (3259-2).
S T U D Y / T H E / H O L Y / B I B L E
Study the Scriptures (2181-1).
Study well these scriptures (3787-1).
Study, then, the scripture. Do analyze it (2969-2).
Read it to be wise. Study it to understand (262-60).
Study of the Word of Life, the Book, the Bible (1664-2).
More time must be given to the study of the Holy Word (3981-1).
S E A R C H / T H E / H O L Y / B I B L E
For search ye the scriptures (3655-1).
Then, search ye the Scriptures (2031-1).
And search ye the scriptures daily (2994-1).
For as the Master gave Himself, 'Search ye the Scriptures' (5373-1).
B E / G U I D E D / B Y / T H E / H O L Y / B I B L E
The dependence of the Book, the lessons, the truths, the exposition of the manifestation
of the Holy Spirit in the earth's forces, is ever the Guide to everyone (900-232).
T R U S T / T H E / H O L Y / B I B L E
All things work together for good to those that put their trust in
[The Holy Bible] (366-3).
Trust in that which is the center of thy life's seal [the open book -
The Holy Bible] (3374-1).
For what is stated in [The Holy Bible] isn't fooling. It means what
it says (2828-5).

Portions of the Holy Writ as should not be just memorized but realized as a living
experience in the application of self in relationships to its home, to its friends, to its
neighbors, to even it passing acquaintances - we will find it will not only aid materially
in the [physical] corrections as are being sought...but will make the whole outlook upon
life and its activities much more, not tolerable, but much more worthwhile! (1773-3)
M E D I T A T E / O N / T H E / H O L Y / B I B L E
The reading, studying, meditating, upon those portions of Holy Writ as intimated.
Read a portion, think on same...they are as living water, as the bread of life,
to the body-mind itself; as those things, expressions, and experiences that
may be a part and parcel of the entity itself (1053-1).
And add to same much of that as may be gained, at such periods, from the study of
the Word of Life, the Book, the Bible; meditating on those commands, those promises,
those warnings. They are the words of life; and life, here, means that continuation of a
consciousness, and the study of the relationships of self to the Creative Forces or God
(1664-2).
H E E D / P R O M I S E S / I N / T H E / H O L Y / B I B L E
Thus let there be the study, the closer study of the promises which are made in the Book,
yes, the history of the Jews (5377-1).
Read oft those things that are promises as are given in the New Testament. Learn those
by heart, not as rote but read them to know how they apply to self (308-3).
And search ye the scriptures daily. For in them ye have promises that are THINE! In them
ye have hope. In them ye have the promise of life, or eternal life, or the water of life,
the bread of life, that makes men free (2994-1).
For regular periods, let there be so much study of man's relationship to Creative Forces,
or the reading of the Book, the Bible, and the promises especially made in that book.
Let the body hunt for same, as well as telling him where and how to look, and what is a
promise, and that all promises are provisional, and that there may be application of this in
the body-force itself (3259-2).
(1664-2).

But begin to read the scripture, searching for those portions of same that give
the warning, as well as the instruction as to how one would seek to be an
individual who may give a great deal to mankind (5124-1).
And add to same much of that as may be gained, at such periods, from the study of
the Word of Life, the Book, the Bible; meditating on those commands, those promises,
those warnings. They are the words of life; and life, here, means that continuation of a

(1664-2).

That the entity make a study of psychic forces; but from the SPIRITUAL angle, using
the Holy Writ as the standard by which all judgments on same may be gained (1260-1).
The book of Books IS the greater source of psychic experiences of individuals, and as to
WHAT they did ABOUT such! Even from Adam to John - or from Genesis to Revelation
(1598-1).
S P I R I T U A L / F O R C E S / A N D / T H E / H O L Y / B I B L E
The better books are those of Holy Writ, for ANY demonstration of
spiritual laws (412-9).
There comes little that is better in the experience of man than the Scripture, not merely as the spiritual but as a light to the feet, as direction to the eye (1260-1).
For the general development in the mental attributes of the spiritual forces, nothing
better than the Psalms, John (especially Chapters 14, 15, 16, 17) and the letters of John -
and James (275-30).
C R E A T I V E / F O R C E S / A N D / T H E / H O L Y / B I B L E
The activities should be in that direction pertaining to training, education, application in
self to lessons, causes, and purposes and whys. For search ye the scriptures, for in them
ye think ye have eternal life. For they are they which testify of those ideals and purposes
of the Creative Force manifested in [Jesus], who is the way, the truth, and the light
(3655-1).
(1664-2).
The Scriptures also. Read...and you will find them not as historical happenings or
events but as the expression of the experience of an individual entity, a soul - as self -
seeking to know the greater, the better, the more helpful relationships to Creative Forces.
And we will find the outlook upon life, the activities in its relationships, its associations,
will become quite a different experience (1173-8).
For regular periods, let there be so much study of man's relationship to Creative Forces,
or the reading of the Book, the Bible, and the promises especially made in that book.
Let the body hunt for same, as well as telling him where and how to look, and what is a
promise, and that all promises are provisional, and that there may be application of this
in the body-force itself (3259-2).

But study to know thy relationship to thy Creator. No better handbook may be used
than the Scripture itself (1966-1).
Hence we may find again and again here, in the Word, that which IS the connection
between man and his Maker; that finds its final concept in the manner which John
presents to the elect [i.e. The Revelation] (281-4).

'To love the Lord with all thy heart, thy mind, thy body, and thy neighbor as thyself!' This
is the whole will of the Father to His children. The rest of that recorded in Holy Writ...
is merely the attempt to explain, to analyze, to justify, or to meet that saying, that truth;
which must, which will, become a consciousness, an awareness, in the experience of
those who seek to do His will in the earth (2524-3).
There have been many versions of that which was purported to have been written, and
has been changed from all of those versions - but remember that the whole gospel of
Jesus Christ is: 'Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy mind, thy heart, and thy
body; and thy neighbor as thyself.' Do this and thou shalt have eternal life. The rest of the
book is trying to describe that. It is the same in any language, in any version (2072-14).

Study also astrological subjects, not as termed by some, but rather in the
light of that which may be gained through a study of His word
[The Holy Bible] (5124-1).

For in the study of these [Scriptures] ye will find that ye draw unto that
force from which the writers of same gained their strength, their patience
(1173-8).

And as [Jesus] gave, 'Search ye the Scriptures'; for in them ye will find
security, contentment, peace, harmony - as ye pattern thy thoughts,
thy purposes, thy desires, after [Jesus] who is the way, the truth, the light
(2031-1).
But know...as may be interpreted in thine own experience as ye read that
called the Scripture, this is the source in which every soul may find that
peace, that harmony. That these directions have been sounded by teachers
here and there should be considered as but helping influences (1809-1).

For, there be many misinterpretations, poor translations, but to find fault
with that thou hast and not use same is to make excuses that you haven't
it as it was given (281-10).
There is that as may be said to be the literal and the spiritual and the
metaphysical interpretations of almost all portions of the scripture, and
especially of the Revelation as given by John (281-31).
For, much might be given respecting that ye have that ye call the Bible.
This has passed though many hands. Many that would turn that which
was written into the meanings that would suit their own purposes, as ye
yourselves often do. But if ye will get the spirit of that written there ye
may find it will lead thee to the gates of heaven. For, it tells of God,
of your home, of His dealings with His people in many environs,
in many lands (262-60).

The revelations of holy men - as recorded in the Bible (2879-1).
The interpretations of Spirit as it manifests to the sons of men must
follow closely what we have chosen as Holy Writ (262-115).
See that the entity knows not only the character but the characteristics
and the sources of directions of individuals recorded in Holy Writ (2005-1).
Let these be the thoughts and the activities: Nothing better may be followed than
that as has been given by Moses, Joshua, David, the prophets, and Jesus (949-5).
Study not what others have said, but...what John has given as respecting
[Jesus'] words, or what Mark has given as to [Jesus'] deeds...
for in [Jesus] is the light (452-6).
For, to begin: For, were one to take any form of phenomena that may
present itself, this would be ONLY the concept of an individual influence;
unless there was then the reaching into the realms of the unknown
(from the finite mind) and correlate that which has been presented in
that taken as Scripture (5756-10).

Q: What shall I read and study in addition to my present studies to
better prepare and acquaint myself with the [Edgar Cayce] work?
A: There is not a better than the scripture as a whole (311-3).
Q: Parallel material for [A Search For God] Study Group work?
A: The Bible is the best parallel (262-100).
Q: Should I read any books for my spiritual development besides
"A Search For God"?
A: Read the Book of all books (457-10).
Q: What books should I read to bring out the divine within me?
A: None more beautiful than that found in the Scriptures (505-4).
Q: What studies would you recommend for my spiritual development?
A: First the New Testament (790-1).
Q: ...would you suggest any specific books that would be of help
to me to read before entering school?
A: The New Testament will be the best one (487-19).
Q: How can one be sure that a decision is in accordance with God's will?
A: You can't get far wrong in following the Word, as ye call the word of God (2072-14).
Q: Should I seek the aid of a professional therapist to assist me in
understanding my emotional nature?
A: Study rather thyself, in relationship to that presented in Holy Writ
(2031-1).
Q: How and where may this study of hereditary and environmental
conditions be followed?
A: Even as in the Book of Books, and in self...may the GREATER truths,
the GREATER understandings, come (933-1).
Q: What present printed version of the Bible gives the nearest true
meaning of both the old and the new Testaments?
A: The nearest true version for the entity is that ye apply in your life
of whatever version ye read (2072-14).
Q: Is the Lord's Prayer as recorded in the Bible correct? If not, would
appreciate it as was given by the Master to the disciples.
A: This may be given, but rather should the seeker use that which IS
given - as the Lord calls on all to do (281-20).

P.S. 1
I highly recommend the George M. Lamsa translation of The Holy Bible.
It corrects the hundreds of translation errors in the King James translation.
I also highly recommend reading The Holy Bible first word to last,
just like any other book, at least once, and best of all the first time.
This is what I did when I was 19 years old, and it had a mighty big impact on my life.
One can also read through it from first word to last, just like any other book,
by reading 3 chapters per day plus 1 chapter of Psalms and then
plus 1 chapter of Proverbs. At the end of a year one will have read the entire Bible once,
plus Psalms and Proverbs twice, with a few days left to the year. I created
this format myself, and it is the best one, or really the only proper one,
for a number of reasons. Of course if one wanted to read through it in half the time,
one could still follow the same format by reading 6 chapters per day
plus 1 chapter of Psalms and then plus 1 chapter of Proverbs. In that case
at the end of six months one will have read the entire Bible once,
plus Psalms and Proverbs once. If one wanted to read through it in
three months one would read 9 chapters per day plus 2 chapters of
Psalms and then plus 2 chapters of Proverbs. All three of these schedules
follow the same basic format. Edgar loved reading some of the Bible each day.
In the morning routine is best, but any time of day is better than not at all.
P.S. 2
The Edgar Cayce Readings parallel The Holy Bible one hundred percent.
They confirm the existence of the biblical God, and that Jesus IS the biblically
prophesied Messiah and THE example for all human beings to follow,
and that Satan and his servants whether angel or human SHALL be
thrown into Hell on Judgment Day, and in the latter case the soul
[created individual consciousness + created individual will] shall be
separated from the spirit [individual portion of eternal Spirit God] and
thus the entity shall no longer exist but have perished and thus obtained
eternal death exactly as forewarned by God in His written word The Holy Bible
and by His prophets including Jesus: "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body
but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both body
and soul in hell [Matthew 10]."
