Virtual Programming Tickets Now Available (And a Welcome Event Update)

As preparations for welcoming everyone to Shetland for this year's in person 2023 event continue we are happy to announce that tickets are now available to purchase for a select number of events which will be being livestreamed during Shetland Wool Week. These events are being livestreamed through working alongside Shetland Arts and UHI Shetland.

For those of you who can't make it to Shetland in person this year we hope this helps you experience part of the magic that is this community celebration of everything woolly.

Follow the links below to purchase tickets for these events.

We also have an update for anyone who will be with us in person about tickets to the Welcome Event on the Sunday night. We have managed to release a very small amount of additional tickets to the event and these will go on sale on our box office on Thursday 14th September at 14:00 BST.

Archaeological Textiles from Gunnister Man and Other Bog Bodies
Book Online Ticket Here

Gunnister man was a bog body dated to around 1700 AD, that was discovered during peat cutting in Shetland in 1951. In this case the body itself was in very bad shape, the skeleton having completely dissolved due to the acidity of the burial conditions. Only his hair and fingernails survived! However his clothes were in a remarkable state of preservation. The session will review Gunnister man and other more ancient bog bodies, to explore what they can tell us about textiles and the societies that created them, as well as the circumstances of deposition.

Date: Wednesday 27 September
Time: 17:30 - 19:00
Ticket Price: £7.50 (plus £1.33 booking fee)
