It is cold outside and we have already had our first snow. Leaves are almost done falling. So, what a wonderful time to do some spinning and knitting.
Did you see the $399 Bond fleece for sale by Clemes and Clemes. It was one of their “Good Clean Fibers”. They could have added “Drop dead beautiful” to that also. I think they may have gone home with it, but the memory lingers on. I also noticed how much Gotland fleece was being shown. It usually comes in varying shades of gray. I even made “Sven” my Swedish felted sheep out of Gotland fiber.
While I think Bond and Gotland are fairly new to us, they are beautiful fibers and worth exploring. I have some recently processed Bond all ready to spin, as well as some Gotland that I should be able to find in my fiber closet. Let’s take both these fibers for a sample spin during our guild meeting. For those who love Polwarth, Bond is also a cross between Lincon and Merino like Polwarth is, although I do not know the percentages in the Bond cross.
What did you see or what class did you take at the WS&WF. Come and share your experience. Show us what you learned and made.
Below you will find some web sites relating to both Bond and Gotland. Of course there are many more available. The Gleason farm is the only US farm that I know of that is currently raising Bond sheep, so that is an interesting site to look at. The fleece that we will spin at the guild meeting came from Australia.
Come on out and join our spin in. Don’t forget we are meeting at the Woodstock Library, same time 10:00 am.
Hope to see you at the meeting.
Sharon

I received an email from Kim Schulte who is looking for some help. If any of you can offer any, please contact her. Here is her email:
Hi Linda,
Jacqueline Gonzalez Mahr gave me your name and info. She said that you were part of the spinning group that used to meet at the Fold with Toni.
I bought my Lendrum from her years ago and have started and stopped spinning over and over. I’m looking for someone that would like to give me some lessons and is a bit closer than a 2 hour drive for me! I’m in Highland Park. My cell # if you might be interested is: 847-432-3917.
Thanks,
Kim
