Happy New Year from your friends at the New Hampshire Bureau of
Trails!

Tuesday January 05, 2010

Riders should use extreme caution. Riders should avoid open bodies of
water and stay off of ice.

Coos County

Pittsburgh - 12-24" new snow on a 6-12" base. Trails are groomed and
riding is good to great. Tr 140 Car Ridge to Cedar String now
open.Caution - Shared logging Roads. Jct # 2238 at 112 & 143 Please do
not stop and park in shared road.

Colebrook - 8-18" new snow on on a 4-6"base. Trails are groomed,
riding is moderate to good.

Stratford - 80% open. 8-10" new snow on a 6" base. Trails are groomed
and riding is moderate.

Groveton/Nash Stream - 10-12" new snow on 8 -10" base. Trails are
groomed, riding is good to great.

Groveton Village - 5-6" new snow on a 4-5"base. Riding is good. Use
Caution on rail line. Rails are showing.

Diamond Pond/Coleman State Park - 24" new snow on a 14" base. Trails
are groomed and riding is great.

Errol - 90% Open. 12" new snow on a 4-6" base. Trails are groomed and
riding is moderate. Caution - Please stay off plowed logging roads
unless signed open. Club is still signing trails.

Cambridge - 12" new snow on 4-6" base. Trails are groomed and riding
is moderate to good.

Milan - 12" new snow on 4-6" base. Trails are groomed and riding is
moderate to good.

Twin Mtn - 24" new snow on 6-18" base. Trails are groomed and Riding
is good. Caution - Rails are showing.

Dalton - 11-16" new snow on a 6" base. Trails are groomed and riding
is moderate to good.

Berlin - 9-12" new snow on a 4-6" base. Trails are groomed and riding
is moderate to good. Caution Corr 19 North of Milan in poor condition
due to lack of snow. Seek alternate routes.

Berlin/Success - 12" new snow on a 4" base. Trails are groomed and
riding is moderate to good.

Gorham - 90% open, 12-14" new snow on a 5-7" base. Trails are groomed
and riding is moderate to good.

Jefferson - 18" new snow on a 4-9" base. Trails are groomed and riding
is moderate to good. Caution Rails are showing.

Lancaster - 90% open, 12" new snow on a 4-6" base. Trails are groomed
and riding is moderate. Caution - Rails on rail line are showing.

Whitefield - 12" new snow on a 2-4" base. Trails are groomed and
riding is moderate. Caution - Rails on rail line are showing.

Franconia Notch- 12" new snow on a 2-4" base. Trails are groomed and
riding is moderate.


Carroll County

Bear Notch/Bartlett - 8-12" new snow on a 4-6" base. Some trails are
groomed. Caution - Expect some open water bars and thin cover on
rails. Not groomed from Swans Jct to North Fork. Watch for mushers
and cross country skiers.

East Conway - 75% open 5" new snow on a 2" base. Trails are groomed
and riding is marginal. Caution- Trail from Hurricane Mtn Road to
Fryeburg closed due to high water.

Ossipee - 5" new snow on a 2-3" base. Trails are groomed and riding
is marginal. Caution - Open water bars and RR tracks are not covered.

N Conway - 5-6" new snow on 2-3" base Trails are packed and riding
is marginal. Caution - Open water bars and RR tracks are not covered.

Moultonboro - 5" new snow on a 1-3" base. Trails are groomed and
riding is marginal. Caution - Very thin cover, open water bars. Ice
not safe.

East Wakefield - 10" new snow trails are not groomed and riding is
marginal.

Freedom - 6" new snow n a 2-4" base. Trails are groomed and riding is
marginal. Caution - Logging Lead Mine Road. Some open water bars,
rocks and stumps.

Sandwich- 6" new snow on a 2-3" base. Trails are packed and riding is
marginal.


Grafton County

Bethlehem - 15" new snow on a 10" base. Trails are groomed and riding
is moderate. Caution - Some open water.

Lisbon - 10-15" new snow. Grooming and packing and riding is good on
the groomed trails. Please stay on groomed trails.

Plymouth- 6-8 " new snow on a 1-4" base. Some trails are packed and
riding is marginal. Caution - Open water bars. Logging west of
Sandwich Notch. New fence in trail through construction at Plymouth
State University.

Baker River Valley- 10" new snow on a 5-6" base in higher elevation
and 2" base in lower. Trails are groomed and riding is good. Caution
Wentworth to Warren water holes.


Belknap County

Meredith- 5" new snow on a 1-3" base. Trails are not groomed and
riding is marginal.


Merrimack County

Bear Brook State Park - 8" new snow on a 3" base. Gates are open.
trails are packed with limited grooming. Caution - watch for
waterbars.


Strafford County

Milton- 10" new snow on a 2-3" base. Not grooming at this time and
riding is marginal.

New Durham/Powder Mill - 70% Open 10-14" new snow on a 2-3" Trails are
60% groomed and Riding is marginal to moderate. Caution- 22 From
Johnsons to Rt 28 has water issues. Wllis Hatch area by Moose is not
open yet. Stay off swamps, lakes and ponds.


Rockingham County

Newfields - 8" new snow on a 2-3". Trails are groomed and riding is
marginal.

Derry - 8" new snow on a 2-3" base. Trails are groomed and riding is
marginal.Caution - Washout just east of Windham Depot. Area has been
flagged.

Pawtuckaway State Park- 6" new snow on a 3" base. Gates are open.
Trails are packed with limited grooming. Some trails have thin cover.
Caution for waterbars and debris.


Hillsborough County

Sullivan County

Pillsbury State Park - 8-12" new snow. Trails are packed and groomed.
Riding is moderate. Caution - Mad Road is closed for logging.

Claremont - 90% open. 7-15" new snow. Trails are not groomed. Caution
- Early season conditions. Club is working to open Corr 5 south of
Sugar River.


Cheshire County

Pisgah State Park- 3" new snow. Trails are packed and riding is
fair.

Hinsdale- 70% open. 5" new snow on a 4" base. Rail beds are open and
overalll riding is fair. Caution - Icy spots.


Rail Trails
Concord to Lincoln - Open Caution - Equipment on rail in New Hampton
North of Dana Hill Rd Bridge in Ashland station.
Northern Recreational Rail Trail, Boscawen to Lebanon - 8-12" new
snow. Trail is packed. .
Farmington Recreational Rail Trail - Gates have been opened.
Rockingham Rec Trail - 8" new snow on a 3" base. Gates are open.
Packing and grooming to begin. Caution for trees and debris on trails.
Presidential Rail Trail - Open for riding.
Ashuelot Rail Trail - Open for riding. Gates Closed. 6" base,
packed.
Sugar River Rail Trail - 6" of snow. Open for riding. Gates are open.
