Gentlemen,
I met with the appliance repairman again this morning in regards to the refrigerator. He was unable to conduct a proper assessment the first time because the unit was frozen over. There are two problems with the refrigerator. The fan (and possibly the wiring) is broken and there is a slow leak in the evaporator. I was quoted a price ranging from $1250-1500 to replace the evaporator and the fan system with a guarantee on that work only. There is also evidence that repairs have been done on the refrigerator in the past. A similar new Beverage Air refrigerator would cost approximately $3100.
I wanted to let you know the status so that the leadership or lodge could decide how they wanted to proceed with refrigerator. We could also easily buy two cheap refrigerators and not invest so much in a refrigerator. Please let me know your opinions about the situation.
Another question regarding the repair/purchase of the refrigerator is what account it will be coming out of. The MBA has expressed that they would not be responsible for the repairs. Please advise.
On a separate not the handles on the kitchen sink need to be repaired. The units where the handles screw into the plumbing are worn out and need to be replaced. The same question about repair/purchase apply to this item as well.
All the best,
Mauricio Alexander Amaya
PS. Another option is to get some joe-schmoe to repair the refrigerator on the cheap without any guarantees. I don't know anyone personally so if you know someone please let me know.
