On a serious note, though, is anyone else as drained as I am from this 20 month, emotional election campaign / global financial crisis and second Great Depression "thing" / simultaneous Vietnam-style bogged down wars / Bill Jefferson reelection campaign / hurricane evacuations / power outages / Alabama being ranked higher than LSU / Saints blowing it like it's 1999 (or 69, or 79, or insert date here) / climate change and disappearing coastline / real estate meltdown / resurgence of Russia, Iran, etc. / gas prices / failing energy grid / terrorists / disappearing pensions and demographic crunch / national debt / consumer debt / skyrocketing medical costs and whatnot?
Can anyone suggest a good cult I can join to put things in perspective? They got rid of all the good ones in the 90's. Nothing to choose from these days besides scientologists and southern baptists. Something in which the survival of the universe depends on solely on me, personally, is preferable, because this is something that I know in my heart to be True with a capital T. It is something that would be the best "fit" for my pre-existing biases and such. But any one in which I can be one of the chosen few or fly in a spaceship would be fine. (And no, Chris, that doesn't mean I'm looking to become Jewish.)
