If you ever tried doing a lightweight/modified Windows image, you might have heard of NTLite. This is by far the most powerful (at least according to my experience) Windows image customization tool. The only issue is that its free version is severely limited compared to the full, paid version. However, it is a pretty good starting point for removing some of the most basic stuff like unnecessary apps or doing things like integrating updates and creating unattended answer files quickly.
After you downloaded the Windows ISO, you have to either mount the disc image and copy its contents to a new folder, or extract it like an archive using 7zip or your favorite archival software. In the end, you should have something like this.
As a matter of fact, almost everything that has been done today can be done using only Microsoft tools like DISM, like I once did in my script-based tiny11 builder a while back. However, using apps like NTLite and MSMG is a much more user-friendly way of doing such customizations.
Hi, thanks for your work, I downloaded and installed Tiny11 2311. But I encountered problems, the most important of which was that my graphic card driver was not recognized. And the driver that was downloaded and installed by Windows was for a graphics card that was several models older than my graphics card. I spent a whole day, but I could not install my graphics card driver. This problem is not in tiny 11 b2, this version detects and installs the original driver very easily. Please solve this problem for Tiny11 2311.
I am a constant lover of your project and tiny11 is a primary OS for all of lower generation machines at my laptop store. Can you guide something to automate windows insttallation completely?? I need to install windows so many times in a day, so I want an image where I just boot to USB, partitionize the drive, and then windows welcome me on the desktop directly without requiring any furhter inputs from me.
hey NTDEV! Nice work for the post. I tried replicating the provided instructions since I wanted a tiny11 with WinRE, but once I install the compiled ISO, it says that I need to restart the installation and it just loops there. The build is 22631.3155. Is there a way on how can I debug the issue?
hi man thank you for your effort and sharing, i want to do this with old os for running in physical old systems, do you try to do this with windows 7 or XP? and make it run windows 7 on newer hardware like 7th or 8th gen windows?

No, what you should actually do is this:
visit then use on of the pre-configured options (standard, strict or all)
Use the created script to entirely cleanup windows, it will not just uninstall but fully delete any bloatware and spyware.
Then install portmaster from which lets you control ALL CONNECTIONS of your PC.
Set the default network action to block, then everything is blocked from accessing the internet and only if you specifically allow a program to access the internet it will be able to do so.
Portmaster is a must have on windows.
Tiny11 Download I went with the recommended tiny11 b2(no sysreq).iso. Copied the downloaded .iso to Ventoy instead of Rufus. I attempted to install Tiny 11 on this laptop twice with Venoty, The first installation was interrupted so I had to do a Disk Cleanup and deleted the Windows.Old files, I did not intend to create.
Tiny11 does not come installed with a browser, so I installed LibreWolf from the store. Downloaded and installed PortMaster. Setup ProtonVPN creating an account by using an alias SimpleLogin email address.
Installed PortableApps, and copied over some of my favorite PortableApps from my Every Day Carry thumb drive. Pinned the Start icon to the task bar, unpinned from the Taskbar, Chat and Microsoft Store.
The last few steps, I expect most people not to consider. My phone is my primary computer and I use PortableApps a lot at work on thumb drives. This instance I want to do some installed to hard drive testing. IMO connecting my phone and thumb drives reduces the need to install programs on the laptops or any PC, call it digital minimalism, attack surface management or I am lazy.
On my main Windows computer I used this tool from Chris Titus. This one potato of a laptop has been sitting around so to do a little future testing I ran this WinUtility to clean up tiny 11. Basically removing all Microsoft Store apps.
Chris is cool, I reference him frequently as his work flow and work ethics are something I try to mirror in my personal life.
He recommends staging away from Tiny11, and I can understand why. I purchased a new PC with Win 11 pro, so I basically set this very old laptop to the side. I wanted to test how this WinUtility worked on this hardware and Tiny11, all is well.
My future test include playing around with NextDNS, PortMaster and various free VPN, before I move these programs and settings to my main windows system.
Long term, I think this banged up will fall apart before I can learn to install Win 10 or Windows 11 with no system requirements.
