One again, here's Merry Christmas from Big Jim. This was sent out originally years ago when our Edmonton, Canada club was playing a little rough. (not that Big Jim would ever do that!)
Octopusher Night Before Christmas
Twas the night before nationals
and all though the club
not a creature was stirring
not even a sub
Our assignments were all set
figured out with great care
In hopes that our rovers
would always be there.
Martine in her Speedo
and me in my mask
had just hit the goal crease
after discussing our task
When suddenly down pool
there rose such a clatter
I swam a little forward
to see what was the matter
When much to my surprise
did appear from the depths
a monster finned forward
with hair on his chest
His face was all covered
with pool bottem lint
His eyes were quite twinkling
in a chlorine attack squint
More rapid than a cobra
he stick handled the puck
Morse code he tapped to teammates
it wasn't just luck:
On Roger, On Lisa, On Lee
I heard him say,
Damn you Greg, damn you Cory
get out of my way!
To the top of the goal
and into the crease
We knew that our shut out
soon would cease
As I drew in my head as
he was curling around,
down the lane he came
with a tremendous bound
He was dressed quite brightly
in neon pink mask
wearing the M_res pl_ana fins
that never quite last
He spoke not a word but went
straight to his work
kicking forwards and rovers
man what a jerk!
With a wink of his eye
and a flick of his stick
He scored off my mask and
it wasn't Saint Nick
And laying his finger
inside of my nose
and giving it a twist
to the surface he rose
He sprang to his new position,
to his team gave a dolphin whistle
He're going to rock this pool
like a nuclear missile!
I heard him exclaim
as he swam out of sight
Lets quit the bitching and rough play
and instead have a fun night!
Big Jim and (Beans, sadly is no longer with us)
Merry Christmas, Joyous Kwanza, Happy Solstice and Hanukah
now with the Victoria, BC Bottom Buddies
old UW Hockey players never die, they just circle the drain
