Hello,

I was curious as to whether or not hobocopy is still being developed. I’ve found this to be an immensely useful program in our domain environment, and would like to thank you for making this open source! As much as I would love to contribute to development, I am not a gifted programmer.

A limitation I am running into is not having the ability to use this program for network transfers. I have tried using the program via psexec, but am not having any luck. Are there any plans to implement network support for hobocopy? It would make hobocopy an invaluable scripting tool!

Thank you again for your wonderful program!

Thanks for the kind words: I'm glad you've found it useful.

Neither Hobocopy nor ShadowSpawn (its replacement) are being developed any longer, as I no longer use Windows. Sorry.

Nor does either program support using a network drive as a *source*. You can write to a network location as a *destination*, but sources are not supported because the underlying feature of Windows that hobocopy uses (the Volume Shadow Service) cannot take a snapshot of a remote drive. If you can use something like ssh, you can get on the remote machine and run the hobocopy job there. You mentioned psexec, which I've always had trouble with, but there are other options, including something like the task scheduler.
