Not knowing exactly how vss works.. I am planning on copying a 60gb exchange 2003 db that I really don't want to take offline. Not concerned about missing incoming mail, but mostly archiving all the boxes before migrating to a newer exchange. Windows backup worked on the folder, but I'd also like the folder contents copied to a usb drive and not in a .bak file. Anything I need to be aware of before starting a 60gb copy?

I'm not aware of anything that would cause you problems, but at
hobocopy isn't in active development any more, I can't guarantee you
won't hit anything. I believe I've used it in the not-too-distant past
to copy VM images in the multi-gig range, so I would expect it to
work. If not, your money back. :)
