Problem summary:
I am trying to use the EventGhost RC interface and the HTTP interface for VLC Remote paralle, but so far without success. If I launch VLC from Eventghost, I can't access it through VLC Remote.

If I try to launch VLC like this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" --extraintf=http --http-host=localhost --http-port=8080 --http-password vlcremote
VLC Remote doesn't discover

At the end I will need to add this to get the Eventghost working as well:

 --extraintf=rc --rc-host=localhost:1234 --rc-quiet --rc-show-pos

Which version of the app are you using?
(iPhone)

Which helper version are you using?
(Windows)

I'm not sure what the correct params are I'm afraid - and I'm not sure whether it is possible to run both interfaces simultaneously. You'll probably get better answers from the VLC forum.

for what it is worth, the initial command looks reasonable.

I'd suggest you get VLC running so that you can connect with your browser on http://localhost:8080 - then continue from there.

I was able to solve it my self :). Unfortunately not via command line, but I figured out which values to set in the VLC config. But it is important to not change anything later than, as it seems the TCP Input textfield is just saved once and if you open the Setup again after a restart you will then save an empty field. But as long as you don't change anything later again, this will work each restart again.

thanks for sharing.
there probably is a way to do it via the command line. Now I think about it - you're trying to use two interfaces, so you probably need -extraintf=http,rc or something like that.

the vlc forum should be able to help you figure it out (or try the VLC team on IRC)
