It’s unfortunate, but Sandy Hook Elementary has become an increasingly distant memory. America just seems forced to swallow more doses of the do-nothing-Congress and the Jeff City legislators that seem to think these issues are a St. Louis and KC problem they can just look the other way because they’re too busy arranging security for their new bust of Rush Limbaugh in the capitol building. Security for a statue, yes. Security for families, no way (like the senseless homicide that happened this past weekend).
Just like any real societal change throughout our US history, it will take multi-year commitment from concerned citizens. It will take participation and patience (to resist giving up and) to outlast the actions and inactions of political whims, denials, special interests…
