Below is an interesting event for Mother’s Day. 

It’s a great example of how the arts can serve social justice (and for social justice groups to collaborate, co-sponsor… with artists).  For thousands of years going back to minstrels and court jesters, artists have had a profound capacity to articulate/promote/raise-awareness in ways that sometimes penetrate more through to public consciousness than thousands of emails, prayer-vigils, meetings…

 

It’s not an issue of whether one or the other is better.  All approaches are valid and important.  Just don’t forget to consider how your issue may be profoundly served by collaborating with artists (even with puppets).
