Read as if spoken with civil, quiet, and caring tone:

In context of the 8 months of nine Benghazi hearings (plus years more of it to try to grind governance to gridlock and to thwart a Hillary bid for the Presidency) and the conservative media incessantly asking for where is the outrage, John Stewart last night commented, “During the Bush Administration, there were 54 attacks on diplomatic targets that killed 13 Americans yet garnered only 3 hearings on Embassy security, TOTAL, and zero outrage from FOX.”

He further points out the disrespectful (especially to the lives lost) and shameless hypocrisy of Congressman Issa leading these Benghazi hearings when he was one of the leaders who cut the funding for more Embassy security that Obama and Clinton were seeking.  http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/wed-may-8-2013/the-big-benghazi-theory

Is there any website, think tank, comedian, or group(s) out there that can fund an ad campaign or “medical” research study “Paid for by Citizens Seeking a Cure for Societal POLYPS”  (Politicians, Lobbyists, and Professionals Paid for Hysterics and Misdirection)?

[especially in context of FOX, bloggers’ claims being represented in Senate chambers day(s) later as fact, DeMint, Heritage Foundation…  repeating lies in the echo chambers and doing things like funding a doctored “math” study for how immigrants will saddle America with $6.3 trillion dollar deficit and generations of low IQ do-nothings)]

For another example of Planet Bizzaro hypocrisy, see http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/mon-may-6-2013/the-good--the-bad-and-the-crazy.  Sen. Cruz deems it patriotism when he vows (and succeeded) to filibuster gun control legislation that 90% of Americans and 55 Senators wanted, while just 3 minutes prior in same speech deciding that it’s tyranny when his gun rights bill with 52 votes got filibustered by Democrats.

What has happened to our “Democracy?”

I asked a Republican friend whether he thought we could ever have societal progress or if he truly believed that Obama was coming for his bullets and his guns (or if those handguns, or a living room stockpiled with bullets, or his jokes about building a turret on his roof could thwart a military tank, helicopter, jet and laser guided missiles either right outside or miles away).  I asked if he really believed that those soldiers (whether his neighbors or my two soldier brothers) would mindlessly permit themselves to be ordered down his street to come after him and his Republican buddies.

I asked him what mental switch was he choosing to permit so that media and politicians could schizophrenically switch from mission accomplished photo ops and “America’s Heroes” drape themselves with flags rhetoric to then be fearing them as any day now ready to kick down his door to take away his guns.  I asked if he realized that he personally still had the free will choice to critical thinking inform himself and see that there wasn’t any difference between being numbed by manufactured information from biased groups and media and similar story lines in Hollywood movies or video games?

I asked him if he’d watch the 3 minute cookie cartoon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9kXPTwIO08), and if he could ever find his way to faith that we could reduce military spending, become a little more peaceful with one another (as well as might be possible given millennia of humanity fighting/competing with one another), and subsequently afford a nation with unrivaled standard of living (with the very best education, retirements, healthcare, respect for the needs of our elders/teachers/neighbors, budgets for our municipalities and States to properly serve rather than years of belt tightening...).

I asked if he could even remember what happened in Obama’s first term when manufacturers were able to quadruple their profits and there were empty shelves from the run on guns and bullets the last time such claims were being severely hyped up (like Beck’s investments and sponsorships to get him and others to run out and buy gold and those emergency backpacks).  I asked how long he’d continue to allow those sources of hype that only serve to make him feel unsafe and distracted with the politics to divide and to redirect his hard-earned dollars to private interests that not only do nothing to improve they actually reduce his and his neighbors’ quality of life (like the NRA and its Board in fact representing the manufacturers rather than the vast majority of its members favoring obvious and rational gun control legislation that’s still a far cry from what his hero Reagan passed into law).

We will only have a healthy society to the extent that we will have citizens willing to actively and directly engage one another (like using online to subsequently interact in-person and meet in real world community groups and Forums  --consider how http://www.rushkoff.com/present-shock points out how the internet rather than bringing us truly closer and freeing up time has instead created the illusion of closeness and inundated us with mundane posts and often near pointless status updates).  We need to as unbiased as may be possible learn from history and to engage in compromise and honest, civil discourse (and shame those who look-away, encourage, or otherwise let “evil” win when falsehoods are continually repeated, magnified, and fear-mongered).

Is it possible for hope to be taught and conditioned as a muscle to resist (and work together to reject Silly Senators that are not much different than the Senators of Ancient Rome disregarding/disrespecting/dishonoring duty to the masses as they favor private and financial interests over the populace)?

Is it possible for hope to be ingrained (or protected from devolving) in DNA?
Is it possible to HOAP together?

Perpetual optimist,

Dave

=)
