Trauma Sensitive Schools: Resilience for Teaching and Learning with Beth Sarver
Trauma and adversity exposure disrupts most urban school systems. Trauma Sensitive Schooling prepares an entire school to counter the disruption. Beth, who coordinates Truman Medical Center’s Resilience Incubator, describes the trauma spectrum and how mindful teaching and learning harness the native resilience in all of us.

The Lake Wobegon Effect with Bill Mullins
“…where all the women are strong…, and all the children are above average,” says Minnesota humorist Garrison Keillor. The preference to see our kin as “above average” can subtly create a need to point to the “below average.” Bill Mullins, Regional Community Advocate, reflects upon a recent MARC Education Report.

Proposito / Purpose
English below
A project developed with the purpose of bringing to the United States a group of 16 Ayotzinapa Parents of the 43 Normalista students disappeared on September 26, 2014 in iguala, Guerrero, Mexico. There are three Caravanas covering over 40 cities from the US/Mexico border along the Pacific, central and Atlantic region states.
The purpose of the Caravanas into the States is to give an international forum to the parents who have lost their children to the systemic violence and impunity co mmitted by the Mexican government and its police. Another goal, just as important is to shed light on the connection between US foreign policy and the socioeconomic conditions and violence in Mexico since US funding equips and trains Mexican military and police through the Merida or Mexico Plan just like it did in collaboration with the government of Colombia with similarly disastrous results. We deeply feel there is a very strong connection between the people of our two countries on the issue of the systemic violence from the police against its citizens.
Join us in this historical and unifying project not only across the international borderline but for the Latin@ communityies in the United States.
