Im a system administrator and i need to collect citrix log with my collector NXLOG to forward them on an external server. I need to know where i can found citrix logs like connection success/failure, vm turning unregistered, error in delivery group ...
I have read again on CDF control, it is possible that is only a tool for analysing ? I have to take citrix log to forward them in a NXLOG who collect every log on my infrastructure but i would like to know if citrix have another way to do that ? Can you also tell me where is the best place to execute the cdf control ? ( Delivery controler server, storefront server etc... )
I have to collect CITRIX log to forward them in an NXLOG server. The problem is the CDF control have to be started manually to get the log file. Can you tell me if there is another way to collect citrix logs on an environment ?
Hi @mtrembl717, Apologies for the delay. You could use these links to understand how CDF traces could be traced. -citrix-trace-files-using-cdfanalyzer/ and -to-open-and-analyze-citrix-cdf-traces-cdflogfile-etl-files/. You could also collect logs at startup, please refer to -us/citrix-virtual-apps-desktops/manage-deployment/collect-cdf.html. In the meanwhile I'll check if there are easier way to forward logs to NXLOG server.

Citrix Diagnostic Facility, or simply CDF, has been around since 2007 and is still considered to be the most used diagnostic tool by Citrix administrators. It has been recently added into Citrix Scout; however, you can still download it as an individual utility from This tool works well with all the latest releases of Citrix XenDesktop.
CDFControl is an event-tracing utility that is made to capture all Citrix-related diagnostic information and that gets its output from Citrix subsystem DLLs. You need to have local administrator rights on the system to start an event trace.
Data needs to be collected before it can be automatically uploaded to Citrix. First you need to select a certain number of machines from which data will be collected, reviewed and eventually uploaded (this is also where Citrix Insight Services, the taas.citrix.com website, comes into play. I mention it near the bottum). You can select up to 10 machines in total. The data will first be analyzed and if any possible corrective actions are found they will be shown on screen giving you the option to execute them. Next you will be asked to choose a location where you would like to store the data in a .zip format. Once the data is saved you will be presented with a dialogue explaining the upload & Analysis process. Click Continue on this to proceed. Than the Upload to TaaS.citrix.com dialog appears, enter your My Citrix Username, password etc. and click Upload.

Excellent care, great staff. Only stayed one night but would recommend this facility. I was in the heart section of hospital.The only reason I didn't give 5 star review is the beds are older and very uncomfortable. I couldn't get comfortable at all. No running water in the sink area to brush my teeth.
