This small, two level greenhouse is set to the cool and moist conditions of a cloud rainforest, complete with waterfall. The colourful plant collection includes tree ferns, palms and other exotic plants.
The Cloud Gardens Conservatory sits on land given to the city in the 1980s when the Bay Adelaide Centre was constructed. The Conservatory was renovated in 2014 and re-opened in spring 2015 with a new climate control system and grow lights to address shading caused by newly built office towers. Improvements also include an improved misting system and a new monorail system to help maintain the mechanics and vertical wall gardens. Soil amendments and new plantings further help to simulate a Cloud Forest habitat.

The basic game-play is not just artistic but also solving a puzzle. Each level is presented as a small diorama surrounded by clouds, a tiny corner of a wasteland, such as a child's playground or building rooftop. To solve the level, players will alternate between placing a natural element, such as the seed of a flowering fruit plant that grows downward or vine that grows in all directions, and then placing a man-made element, like a metal directional arrow sign, a pile of old tires, trash cans, abandoned vehicles and beer bottles.
The winter months that gardens supervisor Nia Primus spends planning the next year's garden starts to come to fruition when the first batch of flowers arrive in March. Gardeners arrive to break down blocks of soil and replant the flowers in the greenhouse.
