num_comments on comments

Hi!

How often is num_comments updated on comments? Most of the time I see num_comments=0 although comment does have many nested comments. See http://api.thriftdb.com/api.hnsearch.com/items/5283380-eb811?pretty_print=true for example.

And the same question is about points on comments.
