Partial match on fields?

I'm trying to find posts with a given URL, but often the url is in a slightly different format than what I'm searching for (Doesn't have the trailing slash, has extra/less parameters at the end, etc...).

Is there a way to do a partial search on a field?

Here's an example query I'm trying:

http://api.thriftdb.com/api.hnsearch.com/items/_search?pretty_print=true&filter[fields][url]=http://erniemiller.org/2013/09/07/on-funemployment-and-my-next-job

You can use a filter query with a wildcard:

http://api.thriftdb.com/api.hnsearch.com/items/_search?pretty_print=true&filter[queries][]=url:(http\://erniemiller.org/2013/09/07/on-funemployment-and-my-next-job*)

Note the escaped colon in the url.
