Dear  Brothers

It is  glad to read that  many students have been  qualified for to follow  the  science  stream  this year. It is a godo idea  to re-start  the science  stream as   many  students may benefit of it.

Can someone  advice whats the  procedure to start it?   I think  there are lack of teachers.

lets work together.

Wasalam

Assalamu Allaikum

Masha Allah
First time i saw a statistics like this from over village, its a great work and a very good initiation.

I would like to add a very humble opinion to the mater , to start science we need good teachers and lot of effort, otherwise after starting the section the students  will have to spent theire time on travel ling to Kandy classes, then the effort put on starting will be meaningless.
Better if we can collect the data for  one more statistics and check the hemmathagame students  success rate of A/L science examination  for last 10 of more years in AL Azhar and out side and compare it , so that we will be knowing the value of the job that we are going to do.
If the result is to start then that should be with very good teachers , in our A/L time, there was  a saying " to start science we have to sacrifice at least a batch", this should not happen.

Thank you

Assalamu Alaikkum,

It is a good initiative.

We should start collecting the statistics of Science graduates who are
from Hemmathagama or nearby like Thalgaspitiya (and currently serving
outside Hemmathagama as Teacher).
Then as second step, we can approach them serve at Al Azhar and take
necessary action based on their feedback. We cannot expect a
dedicated service by bringing outsiders.

Thanks & Regards,

Dear Brothers in Islam,

I am very impressed to see the results. We have to do few things before to start this project.

How many student may wish, to go for Science stream?
Are we going with Science & Maths?
What would be the subjects and how many subjects expected to conduct?
If in this case, how many teachers do need?
We have to start with strong foundation as this is another step for those students. They can save lot of time by travelling to school and tuition.

We have to well planned and as Br. Nawshad said, we have to look good teachers from neighboring twon.
Better offer with minimum 2 years contract needed to be signed.
Kindly come up with this statistical numbers and see how could we work on this for a success.

We have to do our part and then insha Allah, Allah will guide us to the way to success.

I humbly request all of you to comments in this regard and come to a concrete solution to execute the project.

Jazakallah Khair.

May Allah bless you and shower with his blessing.
With best regards
Sajahan

Dear Brothers and sisters
It is always beter to start some thing  rather than not starting
But when you look the results  only 2 students have obtained  A or B in Science while  15 in Maths
This shows  still  we have time to restart  again
let us Consentrate  more  in  O/L   until  we get   atleaset  25  A ,B  Passes in Science and Maths

Don't try  anything  @ cost of some poor clever students

Allways we are with you

Thanks and regards

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

This is very true as brother Khaleed said. We better concentrate more on O/L to produce more better results would be the best thing at this stage.
By focusing much on A/L with meager resuource could affect the focus of O/L where the next O/L result could not that happay as you expected.
So lets try for more best O/L results in Maths and Science then think of re-starting.

Insha Allah, we are always supporting to our home town Muslim brother for our best regardless where we live.

May Allah guide all of us to guide the youth to the best direction.

Jazakallah khair

But still we can help the student who pass Science and maths willing  to study outside
1.By Guidance
2.By giving Scholarships to needy  students

Because they are the our future  resourses

Thanks

Assalamu alaikum,

this is a good initiative to start a forum to discuss about the
hemmathagama education...
As mentioned above science and maths results of o/l are week or not
satisfactory, meanwhile there are students studying science in al-azhar
and out side.
i think its better to study the actual situation rather assuming and
suggesting what are problems
and solutions....
because its not worthwhile to do something but we should do the right
thing at right time.
first thing to analyze whats actually going on and what is required.
for example as our observation to the failure of maths and science in o/l
1.with the change of new syllabus there are problems with proper
understanding of the subject even from the level of teachers(i am not
criticizing or under estimating them,i respect them as teachers but
speaking the actual fact) speciallly in science
2.in maths lack of a qualified teacher is the critical problem
3.students are even trying to memorize maths and physics-
comprehensive ability, and logical and conceptual skills are poor or
not developed, hence students are always trying to memorize things, but
with new syllabus it focus more on understanting so they feel hard to
tackle questions.....
like wise factors effecting o/l results can be listed.
in A/L we are talking about science but what about commerce no
university entrance from al azhar from 1994 (year is not much sure but
person is rizny nana)

in science there is no problem with place where you study because all
are focusing in kandy class.students entered to medicine ,unani..etc
from al azhar
and from out side.
but we know personally they are self motivated students. but we didn't
produce any intermediate results once Bio science or Medicine ... i
beleive this is due to lack of an education culture and proper
guidance and motivation.this is a deeep chapter to talk with....

Simply and Shortly my suggestion is we should work with our
brains, showing professionaly rather than emotional work.so first thing
is to logically analyse the current situation then we can identify
problems and develop solutions...........

jazakumullahu hairan

forgive me if i have said anything wrong...........

dear brothers,

i am attaching two documents,

1.
article published in Quantum Magazine of FASc analysing the science stream achievements in Hemmathagama.

2.
a summary of university entrance in science stream in Hemmathagama.

these will give a good direction to this discussion. just go through and add your comments after looking at from different angles. but one thing for sure, our science are only in few university degrees. but no diversification. (no one, in paramedical field)
in addition, all the people who have entered to university are mainly because of their own hard work and and motivation despite the external factors like school, kandy class and teachers.
so we all have to agree that we haven't achieved with respect to our potential.

Dear Brothers in Islam,

Assalamu Alaikkum

The statistics shows very positive. Also could we have the Success % if possible please.

Further more we would like to know, at what stage the Science stream went down and why?

Lets try to identify the weakness and pay attention to improve that area to have the success story.

Again this should not happen at the expense of a batch and O/L is the foundation stage. We should pay more attetention to OL to produce more better and best results.  This will simply eye opener for others to support to start science stream.

Dear Members in the forum, please give your openion and support with your expertise.

Jazakallah Khair.

Br. Sajahan
