Greetings from HMT!We hope you'll join us this
Saturday, May 10th, for a full day of
Takoma Porch music festivities! This annual festival presents local musicians on outdoor porches along a walkable route around old-town Takoma Park. We will be hosting 2 of our favorite singer-songwriters,
Juels Bland & Rebecca Berlin, outside HMT from 11am - 2pm. Then from 2-6pm, you can enjoy the main block of Takoma Porch all around town.
Get the full schedule and an interactive map here, and follow
Takoma Porch on Facebook for updates.
We've got some fantastic new additions to our
used instrument stock! Great pieces are coming in all the time, and sometimes get snapped up before we can even get them listed online. We just got in a set of Fred Morrison Uillean pipes, several R. Morse English concertinas, some vintage Gibson and Lyon & Healy mandolins, some very nice vintage fiddles, small-body guitars by Whetstone and Veillette, and much more! See our
Used Instrument section for more details, and contact us if you're on the hunt for something in particular.
We also wanted to give our customers a heads up about what's happening with tariffs and pricing. We encourage you to read our full statement
here. What we want to emphasize is that we continue to have new instrument stock that was obtained before tariff-related price increases go into effect. Though we are required to continually update our advertised prices to comply with our suppliers' Minimum Advertised Price policies, we sometimes have inventory that is priced lower "in-store." If you're not shopping in person, you're always welcome to inquire and we'll let you know if we have a deal available on the product you're considering. Thanks for your continued support as we navigate this very complex time in the retail business!
School of Musical Traditions has a busy schedule of group classes, jam sessions and summer camps coming up! It's almost too much to list in one email, so we encourage you to visit
http://schoolofmusicaltraditions.com to browse all the current offerings. You'll find repertoire classes and jams for Celtic, bluegrass, old-time, jazz and ukulele players, early childhood sessions and a how-to-jam class for kids ages 6-12, and fun summer camps for rising 1st-5th graders.
