Greetings from HMT - a few exciting announcements this month!
For the 6th time, we've been voted "Best Place To Buy Instruments" in the Washington City Paper's Best of DC Reader Poll! Thanks so much to those who voted for us in the 2022 poll - we appreciate your support.
We're also very excited about our lessons division School of Musical Traditions' expansion to a new location in Takoma Park! Nicknamed "Takoma Spark," this will be SMT's central hub now (the Rockville location will be closing). The location at 7112 Willow Ave (a 5-minute walk from the store) features plenty of parking, a one-level/accessible building, lots of individual lessons rooms and a larger event space for workshops & small concerts. We are also sharing the building with non-profit Justice Arts Coalition.
Upcoming School of Musical Traditions events:
- Takoma Spark Bluegrass Jam: a free bi-weekly jam hosted by Cherry Blossom Special. Held every other Thursday, 7-9pm. Next jam 11-7 - register here.
- Adult Old-Time String Band w/Jonathan Vocke: Thursdays starting 11/17 (4 sessions)
- BLUEGRASS DAY November 19th: Ira Gitlin teaches Finding Melodies On Your Instrument, and Dede Wyland teaches How To Develop the Bluegrass Sound In Your Singing
We've also launched our annual post-Renaissance-Festival Dent, Dust & Ding Sale! Through November 20, enjoy the following discounts:
- 20% off djembe drums
- 10% off hammered dulcimers
