Greetings from House of Musical Traditions!

Several exciting announcements for you:

We will be open on Sunday July 4th from 12-3pm! Appointments are encouraged (book at hmtrad.com). There will also be an afternoon of free live music at the Takoma Park Gazebo, from 12-4:30pm - with Proverbs reggae band, ilyAIMY, The Nighthawks and Drumspiration. Facebook event here, and we'd appreciate any help spreading the word! Takoma Park is not doing its traditional parade and fireworks this year, but Dave Eisner put together this concert to celebrate.

Two big product announcements!

We are now the exclusive US distributor for Hedwitschak Bodhrans, made in Germany. These drums have been popular and sought-after by players around the world for their high quality, impressive sound and range of customization options. We're pleased to now make them more readily available in the US. We are stocking several models of the popular CoreLine series, as well as a few unique "HighEndLine" drums. Find them on our website here.

We are also excited about the launch of Breedlove's new "ECO" series guitars. They are completely reformatting their entry and mid-level acoustic guitars with this groundbreaking series. They have solid tops and laminate backs & sides (which keeps the cost down). But the inner layer of the laminate is sustainably-harvested African mahogany, rather than the tone-robbing softwoods found in most other laminates. This produces a much richer sound, generally that you would only hear in guitars costing 3x the price. And even better, Breedlove has made a commitment to only use sustainably sourced (no clear-cut) woods in all their guitars going forward. This is a first in the industry, especially in the low-priced guitar market.

Check out more information on the ECO series on our website. We have received our first model (it's incredible!), and as a Premier dealer we will be stocking the complete line of over 30 models as they become available. Prices range from $399-$749. If you would like to be notified when more stock comes in, just let us know.

Lessons & Workshops update:

We're also happy to announce that in-person lessons are starting to come back, with safety precautions in place! School of Musical Traditions is now scheduling in-person lessons on a range of instruments in both their Rockville and Takoma Park locations, with more options becoming available in the coming weeks and months. All teachers are still continuing to offer virtual lessons, which have been a great option for many students! Visit SMT's website for more information and to start your inquiry.

SMT will also be presenting another Introductory Taiko Workshop with Mark H Rooney on Sunday July 17th at the Dance Exchange in Takoma Park. Attendance will be limited, and masks & social distancing will be in place. Find more information & online registration here.

And finally, a quick reminder on store operations:
- Our open hours are 12-5 Sunday through Thursday and 12-6 Friday & Saturday (but we'll be expanding open hours in the near future!).
- Appointments are still highly encouraged and can be booked easily through hmtrad.com, though you can also drop by without an appointment during the above hours.
- Masks are still required for everyone inside the store.
