Hope you and your instruments are staying cool this summer. A few updates to let you know about:

Our lessons partner School of Musical Traditions has several workshop & jam offerings this summer! Click each link for more information & online registration. All events are held at SMT's facility at 7112 Willow Ave, Takoma Park, MD.
Workshops:
- Intro to Celtic Repertoire w/Ellen Gira, July 20. For all instruments - learn a groovy Scottish tune & create a fun arrangement as an ensemble! This is also great prep for Ellen's upcoming Celtic jam sessions.
- Bluegrass Repertoire Workshop w/Justin Heath, July 28. A once-a-month series for guitar, banjo, fiddle & mandolin.
- Ukulele Classes w/Maureen Andary, August 10, 17 & 24. Real Beginner & Ukulele Repertoire sessions. Take all 3 weeks for a discount or register individually if you can't make all.
Jams:
- FREE Uke Jam & Pizza Party w/Maureen Andary, 3rd Mondays (next one July 15)
- Bluegrass Slow Jam w/Cherry Blossom Special, 2nd & 4th Thursdays (next one July 25)
- Get Yer Lonesome On bluegrass jam w/Ira Gitlin & Mary Naden, 4th Mondays (next one July 22)
- Celtic Jam w/Ellen Gira, 3rd Saturdays starting August 17
- D.C. Singalong with Josh Korr, August 18
And don't forget the Takoma Spark Open Mic, every Tuesday at 7pm (performer signups 6:30). This continues to be a great gathering for local & touring performers of all levels & genres in an intimate listening environment, plus live stream on Facebook & YouTube. There is also a featured artist slot each week.
Finally, mark your calendars for the annual Strathmore UkeFest, August 10-14. Enjoy classes with world-renowned instructors, jam sessions, faculty concert, and the annual Live From the Lawn concert. Register soon as classes usually sell out!
