Dear all,

We are excited to announce a new advanced course: GLLVMs: Advanced multivariate analysis of ecological communities in R

Dates: 7–10 July

Course website: https://www.physalia-courses.org/courses-workshops/gllvm/

This course introduces Generalized Linear Latent Variable Models (GLLVMs) as a modern, model-based framework for analysing multivariate ecological community data. It provides a statistically coherent alternative to classical ordination methods and integrates ideas from generalized linear models, joint species distribution models, and model-based ordination.

Through lectures and hands-on R sessions, participants will learn how to fit, diagnose, and interpret GLLVMs using the gllvm package, and how to translate results into ecological insight.

Key topics include:

  • Multispecies GLMs and GLMMs

  • Joint Species Distribution Models and species co-occurrence

  • Model-based ordination and comparison with classical methods

  • Covariates, random effects, and model diagnostics

  • Interpretation and visualization of multivariate outputs

Best regards,

Carlo
