Formula editor in Word ?

Dear colleagues,

sorry if this is a little off topic but does anyone know a good WYSIWYG formula editor for MS Word ? Ideally free...

I have been using MathType but got increasingly frustrated with it (a big thing is that it 'forgets' my annual licence number about once per month and I have to enter the code again).

Does it need to be an add-on for MS Word?

When the built-in equation tools aren’t enough, I usually opt for one of the LaTeX online equation editors that let you create formulas and export them as images (PNG or SVG):

One option is to use latex in RMarkdown or Quarto, export to Word, and copy it over
