WLA Panel: Life as a Female Attorney at a Global Law Firm 
Join the WLA and attorneys from the Boston office of Weil for a candid discussion about life as a female attorney on Wednesday, February 2, at noon in Pound 100 (note room change).  We will be discussing topics such as the challenges facing women who work at large firms, legal recruiting, mentoring and more.  Lunch will be served!  
  
First Annual Fashion Swapaganza This Week 
The WLA and Green Living Program are sponsoring a fasion swap for men, women, and children. To refresh your closets, bring clothes to donate January 31 - February 4th at tables in the Hark during lunch. Or buy tickets in a raffle for prizes from Grendel's Den, Mint Julep, Crema Cafe, JP Licks and more! For every 2 items donated, come to our Fashion Swapaganza on Sunday, January 6th, at noon to pick out a new item. The Sunday Swapaganza will include a documentary film feature, representatives from local shelters, the raffle drawing and donuts and bagels thanks to a donation from Dunkin' Donuts.

250 people have already registered for our Fifth Annual Conference  – This is What Equality Looks Like: The World We Want for Women and Girls, Friday, February 11, 2011 in Ropes-Gray.  Sign up now!  The conference will include four impressive panels, Judiciary, Economics, Girls, and Health. Volunteer for the Domestic Violence Courtwatch Program 
In case you missed the introductory meetings last week, there is still time to be a part of the WLA's Domestic Violence Courtwatch Program. Please contact Rebecca Lake at rl...@jd12.law.harvard.edu for a volunteer application (due Friday, February 4th). Volunteers are needed to be (1) on a research team that will meet throughout February and (2) courtroom observers to start courtwatching in March. The WLA recommends that 3Ls consider volunteering for the research team.  
  
WLA February Book Club - Sign-up Closed
Unfortunately, we are at capacity for February's WLA book club meeting with Professor Diane Rosenfeld.  There will be another book club meeting in March, and priority will be given to those who were unable to attend the February meeting. Details on how to sign up for the March WLA book club meeting will be sent out closer to the date. Thank you for your interest!

Documentary on FGM/C and Asylum: Mrs. Goundo’s Daughter 
Check out Barbara Attie and Janet Goldwater’s newest documentary, Mrs. Goundo’s Daughter (www.attiegoldwater.com/goundosdaughter), which will have its national broadcast premiere on PBS World’s AfroPop series on February 9, 2011 at 7 pm.  Mrs. Goundo’s Daughter recounts a Malian mother’s fight for asylum in the U.S. to protect her two-year-old daughter from female genital mutilation.  The award-winning documentary has shown at dozens of festivals worldwide including Human Rights Watch (NY and London), Silverdocs, Human Rights DerHumALC (Argentina), Disthwanelo Human Rights (Botswana) and on the Harlem Stage. In Boston, broadcast on WGBH World WGBH Digital Broadcast 44.2, Comcast 209, FiOS 473, RCN 94, Cox 807, Charter 222.

Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP 2011 1L Diversity Summer Program 
As part of Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP’s ongoing effort to recruit, retain and promote attorneys who contribute to the diversity of their firm, MTO is please to offer up to four 1L summer associate positions in their Los Angeles and/or San Francisco offices.  These positions will be offered to exceptional first-year law students who show the promise of being outstanding attorneys and contribute meaningfully to the diversity of MTO, including law students who are members of racial or ethnic minority groups, are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender, are physically challenged, or are from disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds.  Upon completion of at least seven weeks at the firm, each participant in the 1L Summer Program will have the option to spend four weeks performing legal work for a non-profit organization in the LA or San Francisco area and receive his/her weekly salary from the firm.  See attached for more information.
