Sign BLSA Open Letter - TODAY
The WLA encourages members to stop by the Hark on Mon. Nov. 29 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. for the opportunity to sign an Open Letter the Black Law Students Association (BLSA) is organizing. Several members of the Harvard community were confronted with an unfortunate situation last weekend during an after party for the Harvard-Yale game. The party was shut down after the establishment's management expressed a concern that the primarily black crowd would attract the "wrong crowd." HLS student groups including the WLA are joining in a collective response to the incident through the release of an open letter, and individual students are able to participate as signatories as well. Stop by the table on today to learn more about what happened and hopefully to add your name.
Second Annual Harvard Mississippi Delta Celebration
Join faculty and students from all over the Harvard community on Wednesday, Dec. 1, from 6:00-8:00pm in Hark South, to celebrate recent work in the Mississippi Delta! Over the past few years, students and faculty from HLS, Kennedy School, School of Public Health, Business School and Harvard College have all worked on a range of projects to improve the health, economic outcomes, community engagement, and overall wellness of communities in the Mississippi Delta. Please join us again this year to learn about new projects, meet members of the Harvard community interested in this region, and celebrate the wonderful work being done in the Delta. This event is open to anyone from the Harvard community! Hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine and soft drinks will be served.
Human Rights & Sex Trafficking: A Film Forum
From December 2-5th, the 'Human Rights & Sex Trafficking: A Film Forum', will take place in Cambridge. The event will be screening 12 films at the Brattle Theatre in Harvard Square, each followed by discussion panels featuring survivors, filmmakers, activists and academics. Recognizing the need for greater public and academic awareness of sex trafficking, the forum will explore the power of documentary film in effectuating a movement to combat commercial sexual exploitation and modern-day slavery. Sponsored by the Boston Initiative to Advance Human Rights. http://bitahrfilmforum.eventbrite.com/
