Hello NIST IZ Team,
In my application, I am generating and maintaining my own MRN/Patient ID values. However, I noticed that the NIST Tool expects only the IDs provided in the test story.
Is it mandatory to use the exact IDs from the test story, or can I continue using the MRNs generated by my application?
I reviewed the Known Issues documentation, and it states:
• The Tester can ignore the error notification generated by the Tool
• The Response message also will have to be modified accordingly
Can you please confirm if, for ONC certification purposes, I am allowed to proceed with my own MRN values (while handling the response modification as noted), or if I must strictly use the IDs provided in the test story?
Regards,
Shanmukh
HI Shanmukh,
You can use the MRNs generated by your system. The requirement for using test case provided data is indicated in the Message Content Tab under the categorization column. So, in some cases you must use the test case data and in other instances you don’t. For your question, the test data categorization for the element is “Presence-Content Indifferent”, so use don’t have to the provided test data.
