It is this specific sofa in pink that I am stuck with at the moment, I have tried applying my own images and bump in the material editor for the materials with the sofa but its still just grey... having the same issue with most of my bim objects unfortunately.
You're pretty limited with this family. The sofa was created with another software and inserted into Revit. Did you apply your custom image and settings to the Appearance Tab of the Material named "Render Material 128-128-128"?
Under the Type Properties for the sofa in the Project View, change the "BOSUseNativeGeometries" parameter to "1" and "BOS_0_Visibility" parameter to "1", and then apply your custom image/settings to the Appearance Tab of the Material that is displaying next to the "BOS_0_Material" parameter.
FWIW: this is not an easy family to figure out. There are parametric formulas controlling combinations of visibilities and materials. You need a freaking users manual to operate the darn thing! Betcha they had one -- along with Materials -- at the site you downloaded it from.
I have no idea why they need the CAD Import in the family while the much cleaner looking freeform element is already there. So yes, you can do what @barthbradley suggested to change the material of the cushion. I would actually go to the next step and get rid of the CAD Import altogether, and enter '1' in the formula box instead of the value box so it is permanent.
I have a building model where suddenly I cannot seelct many of the objects - walls, floors, roofs, doors, windows, generic models, etc. Some objects randomly are selectiable, and many are not. I cannot select them in any view - plan, section, elevation, 3D, or in any pahse.
The model was created and is being used in Revit 2015. The project is an existing hsoue with an addition. It appears that the objects that will not slect are in the new construction phase; all existing objects are selectable. And it's not all of the new construction objects, just some of them.
It could be a number of reasons. it is hard to give a more precise opinion without having more information. Starting in Revit 2014, there are some new options for selection of objects. At the lower right corner of the screen, threre are some options that could be activated, preventing you to select some objects. Also, if the model has Design Options, it is possible that some objects are not selectable.
I'm having the same problem. I inherited a drawing from someone else. I drew walls. Now I can't select, modify or delete any of them. They are shown in a gray color even though I changed the color in the visibility settings for each view. In some views, the walls don't show at all.
How do I know if this drawing has "design options"? How do I get rid of design options if this is the case? Are there any other reasons why I can't select the walls I drew? I made sure that everything is checked under the SELECTION drop down.
The Design Options tool opens the Design Options dialog. If the main list box in that dialog is empty, there are no Design Options in your project, and the Active Design Option selector (to the right of the Design Options tool) will be inactive.
If you have Design Options, then the graying out of items in a particular view will be dependent on two settings. The first is the Visible In Option property of the View, found under the Graphics category. Use this to select the Design Option within each Option Set that is to be shown in the View. If the Active Design Option is set to Main Model, then neither the Main Model nor the Option Set(s) that are to be viewed in that View will have their graphics altered. If one of the Design Options that is to be viewed in that View is set current, objects in the Main Model and objects in any other Design Option from another Set (that are set to be visible in that view) will be half-toned, leaving only the objects in the Active Design Option unaltered. Only objects in the Active Design Option (if visible in the View) can be selected if the Active Only/Exclude Options toggle is checked.
You "get rid of" a Design Option Set (and its associated Design Options) in the Design Options dialog, by making the Design Option you want to keep the Primary option and then selecting the Option Set and choosing the Accept Primary button. Note that this will move all objects in the Primary Design Option to the Main Model and WILL DELETE ALL OBJECTS IN THE OTHER DESIGN OPTIONS, so be certain that you want to do that before proceeding. You may want to create an archival copy of the model prior to doing so.
This happened after editing a cloud on a detail, after I selected the green tick to complete the editing (resizing) of the cloud, the cloud disappeared. This have been due to it being past the exceeding the Annotation Crop range?!
Anyways, the Model did not go into Not responding mode, instead it appears to be still active, however, all the toolbars are greyed out! I can still open other drawings , but can't select any of the objects on the screen.
Okay, this isn't the best option, but I couldn't delete or select the TOPO Link. So, what I did was deleted the level it was associated to, I.E.: Finish Floor Main. The down side is this deletes everything associated with that level. I could HIDE IT with visibility graphics, but I couldn't delete it!
I am using Revit 2022.1 with Enscape 3.5 preview 6 and when i hide/ unhide objects in revit, the enscape scene does not update. Super annoying and now, making a new scene with the hidden assets is NOT the solution. I spend time setting up the scene visual and do not want to do that every time I hide or unhide an object. I have worked with Enscape on and off for the last 4 years or so and do not remember this doing this previously. I saw on other posts that this has occurred in Sketchup but I did not find any posts where it was occurring with Revit. Any thoughts? Thank you!
You're also using an unsupported preview build. "In addition to the stable releases, we offer preview releases. Those builds might be unstable but contain new features and fixes. You can find them here."
The scenes are identical so it is an issue with Enscape in this build. This is a preview build so maybe I will try another version but for now, I cut and past the objects of concern between the scenes. It is just a pain.
Just an FYI but this is still an issue while using the latest preview I just downloaded for 3.5. The only way to fix is to generate a new view which is a PITA. In fact, I noticed that if I close revit, then start and open the scene again in enscape where I hid the object in that scene previously, the scene still does not show it updated. It is like it saved the "moment" I created the scene. But if I add assets to this scene, it updates in real time.
Appreciate your efforts to help Phil but in this case, I can tell you I built this workstation with a 2080 ti RTX and 64 gigs of ram to be able to handle scenes like I have been building. I also use it with Unity and Unreal in larger landcapes without issue. Things worked fine in 3.4 Enscape but you do bring up a valid point. I have some meters that run in the background to let me know various readings on the computer such a vram used, ram used, heat, processor use, etc and none of these have been impact that much. I will get some serious spikes when using Unreal and Unity though.
Thanks for your patience Arcitek - it must be very frustrating. Please continue to update the forum. If you'd like me to test 3.5 w your project in confidence please send a download link. ph...@readthomas.com.
At this point it would be really great if you could also share the project with me and Phil if you like, and definitely also please be so kind as to send in a feedback report including your log files (
Hi, I know this has been discussed a million times, but having searched for answers I come up blank reg. some specific comparisons.
I am trying to move my firm to one of the two programs, I believe that although Revit marketshare is larger, Archicad can create more detailed and nuanced 2d deliverables with an easier workflow.
However - one thing which I think is super important and a deal-breaker possibly , is the ability to create custom parametric objects/families. I understand the way revit works in this regard, but I am trying to find out if Archicad has the same capablities, specifically:
Archicad can do all of these things however from my knowledge you would likely need a little bit of GDL education or know-how to do some of the things in your list. They do have the paramo tool that may work for some of the items you're after however I don't use that item I strictly code all of my objects so that they do exactly as I need.
You can nest objects inside other objects as well and call them into parent objects. The stair tool allows you to create custom treads to map to the stairs as well as custom railing parts for the railing.
When I was looking to switch from AutoCAD I learned Revit and then someone showed me Archicad that was on version 15 and Revit was no comparison in terms of 3D manipulation. To my knowledge as of now Archicad is still King when it comes to modifying elements in 3D. For example I do zoom meetings with all my clients and we do all the design in real time so they get to see it come to life in 3D and have direct input on the designs direction.
