Blues In recent years, blues dancing has become popular with lindy hoppers and social dancers worldwide. Like most swing dances, blues is rooted deeply in early African American culture. The key to this unique dance is a focus on improvisation and connection with your partner and the music.

In this workshop, we will learn connection and improvisation techniques and concepts such as simplicity, subtlety, clarity, creativity, intensity, listening, and musical interpretation. The connections between these concepts are critical to advanced social dancing and will greatly improve your lindy hop (and make it a lot more fun, as
well).

Some knowledge of lindy hop and swing is an asset, but not required.

Fred Ngo has been teaching lindy hop for 13 years. In 1998, he founded Cat's Corner, one of the oldest dance schools solely dedicated to lindy hop and swing in Canada. Fred is an ambassador of the Canadian lindy hop community and one of its greatest pioneers and individual contributors. He is widely acknowledged as the "father" of lindy hop in his hometown of Montreal, Canada, and in Kingston, Ontario, where he founded the Queen's University Swing Dance Club.
