This Sun May 22 is at Blue Smoke BBQ, 3/F Grand Progress Building,
15-16 Lan Kwai Fong, Central. From 8-8.45pm will be an all-level free
class, then DJ'ed dancing until 11pm. Free entry, but for dinner and
table reservations, call 2816 9018.
Next Weds May 25 is cancelled and moved to Thurs May 26 at Grappa's Cellar. Thurs May 26 is Frankie Manning's birthday and we hope you can join us for a free Shim Sham class from 7.30-8.30pm that night.

Basic 8-Count Lindy Hop B - Mon May 16 - June 13 (5 weeks) 8-9.15PM with Josh
The "B" course has a Turns and Swingouts focus and we teach new material every time. No prior experience or partner required. $680 full course (5 classes) or $600 if taken with a second course in this session/ Drop in $200 (no drop ins from week 3 without instructors' permission). Full time students with ID: $380 full course.
Basic 8-Count Lindy Hop A - Tue May 17 - June 14 (5 weeks). 7.15-8.30PM with Sergey & Karen
The "A" course has a Charleston and Swingouts focus and we teach new material every time. Intermediate Lindy Hop & Charleston - Tues May 17 - June 14 (5 weeks). 8.30-9.30PM with Sergey & Karen
Continue your progression from the Basic 8-count Lindy Hop series. You are social dancing weekly and are comfortable with mixing your 8-count patterns (eg. from our studio classes) with 6-count patterns (eg. from our free classes) and practicing these on the social floor. Now you are ready for more options and to improve your technique! You can take this class as many times as you want as we always have fresh material and something to challenge everyone. Required: Basic 8-count Lindy Hop A and B, or with instructors' permission. $680 full course (5 classes) or $600 if taken with a second course in this session/ Drop in $120. Full time students with ID: $380 full course.

Frankie's Shim Sham Birthday Celebration
Frankie Manning's birthday is on Thursday, May 26th and HK Swings will hold a dance to celebrate the life of a man who helped make Lindy Hop what it is today. Known as "The Ambassador of Lindy Hop," Frankie Manning was one of the original Lindy Hoppers in the 1930's and was teaching Lindy Hop into his 90's. He passed away two years ago, weeks before his 95th birthday but Lindy Hoppers around the world continue to keep his spirit alive and on May 26th we will be celebrating along with the rest of the world. Go big, and not just with your hair... totally radical 80s and 80s prom attire is mandatory, so dudettes, fluff up your ruffles and dudes, dust off the pastel suit. Pair them with leg warmers or wear a muscle shirt under your silver jacket. Be inspired to bring out your best 80s dance moves to Michael Jackson and Madonna. It's time to bring your non-dancing pals who have been wondering why you're always 'busy on a Wednesday night' - Sam will be teaching an open level class (all levels, beginners welcome) from 7-8pm in the bar.
Tickets are $300 and include:
* Full Carvery Roast Dinner with all the trimmings, plus 1 drink*
* Open class from 7-8pm with Shanghai Sam in the Bar*
* 5th Birthday Cake, Games and Prizes*
* Photo booth to snap glittering memories of this special occasion*

About SAM: Sam can't make all your dreams come true... just most of them. OK...maybe not, but he CAN help your dancing. Sam has been dancing Lindy Hop for nearly 7 years and has taught for nearly 6. He learned to dance in Hawaii, Seattle and LA from some of the world's most renowned swing instructors and has been performing and choreographing for many years, performing in dance events in many countries around the world. Sam was part of the Bacardi Dance team in Hawaii and currently trains and performs with Fusion Dance Studios in Shanghai. Apart from Lindy Hop, Sam also teaches and dances Salsa, West Coast Swing and Blues.
If you buy a Party ticket, just add $100 to include both day classes. Workshops only (no Party ticket) are $125 per class. Both day classes are Intermediate level - ie. assume knowledge of 6 and 8 count Lindy Hop and Charleston.
Swing Walk - SUNDAY, JUNE 12 from 4-6pm, BLUE SMOKE from 8-11pm
Join us as we take a walk (and dance) through Central on Sunday, June 12! Bring your friends and family. You can join us at any of these points, cos really they are ice cream and drinks stops in disguise. Times are approximate.
