MIDDLE EAST INITIATIVE: Changing Policy: Health Care for Conflict- Affected Communities in Syria and the DRC

A panel discussion on health care provision among conflict-affected populations, with a focus on communities in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Syrian civilians in Syria, Lebanon, Turkey and Jordan. The panelists include Jennifer Scott, Director, Global and Community Health Program, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Instructor, Harvard Medical School; Kathleen Hamill, Fellow, FXB Center for Health and Human Rights; and Patrick Vinck, Director, Program on Vulnerable Populations, Harvard Humanitarian Initiative.

Sami Atallah, Director, Libanese Center for Policy Studies, will discuss key recent policy challenges and policy debates in Lebanon, including decentralization, the electoral law and gas policies.  He will also focus on the ways the research, debates and advocacy efforts of the Lebanese Center for Policy Studies have affected the direction of national policy.
