Kung Hei Fat Choi!

For those of you that were off for CNY, I hope you had a relaxing few days.

After last Thursday's incredible victory over Grand Champions Valley (match reporthttp://www.hongkongscottish.com/news-detail.php?id=28), the first team return to action against Causeway Bay at So Kon Po, CWB on Saturday.  Kick off - 6pm.

The boys are building a bit of momentum right now having won 3 matches in a row and with another couple of wins before the end of the league season, we find ourselves moving up the table and landing an easier first round playoff game.

The support that we received at the Valley game was incredible and really helped us get through that final 10minutes when we had our backs against the wall.  We would love to see you at the game this Saturday.  For all of you planning to come down, can I ask you to bring one other person to try and build the support we receive.  We already drown out opposition support so imagine the support we can have with double the numbers!  The replica tops have now finally arrived from our friends at Playmore so they will be distributed to the members in attendance.

HK Scottish Nomads also return to action on Saturday with a game against DeA III.  This is a winnable game for the boys which can see them move up the table to see them well placed for a playoff run.  The game is also at So Kon Po.

HK Scottish 3rds round off the fixtures with a game against Police Panthers looking to build on their recent positive results.  This match is at Police Boundary Ground.

Saturday's Games:
Verizon Hong Kong Scottish vs Causeway Bay, 6pm, So Kon Po

Verizon Hong Kong Scottish Nomads vs DeA III, 3pm, So Kon Po

Verizon Hong Kong Scottish III vs Police Panthers, 2pm, PBS

We hope to see you all down supporting the boys on Saturday.

Best Regards
Dave

VERIZON HONG KONG SCOTTISH VS SCAA CAUSEWAY BAY

Key game for Scots

After a run of 3 wins from 3 in 2012, Hong Kong Scottish will look to improve on that record against bottom club SCAA Causeway Bay at So Kon Po, CWB, KO 6pm today.

Scottish will be out for revenge after their heart breaking loss to CWB in the first round of fixtures when CWB played with 14 men for 60 minutes of the match.

With the 2nds game called off because DeA III cannot raise a team, we are hopeful that we will get a large support from the boys as we look to move up to 5th, a position we haven’t held since the first week of the season.

Added incentive for today’s match is that we would move ahead of Hong Kong Football Club if we were to win and they were to lose to HKCC.  This would then setup for an incredible game at Shek Kip Mei next Saturday between the two sides.  What an achievement in our first season if we were to finish above Hong Kong’s oldest club.

Hope to see you all at So Kon Po at 6pm.  The weather has even brightened up for the occasion.

Cheers

Dave

Hi all,

Saturday saw the boys make it 4 wins in a row with a hard fought win against Causeway Bay.  We are building great momentum now going into the playoffs.  The match report is now online: http://www.hongkongscottish.com/news-detail.php?id=30

We have now won 5 matches this season which is only 1 win behind Kowloon who are likely to win the league and simply have more bonus pints than we do.  Its an incredible achievement from the guys when everyone expected us to struggle this year.

The continued support of the supporters is invaluable and if I can ask you all to try and make it down on Saturday to Shek Kip Mei to watch the game against Hong Kong Football Club (6pm KO).  If we win on Saturday and stop them from gaining any bonus points, we will be ahead of them going into the last game of the season.

A shout out goes to the HKS 3rd team who narrowly lost to Police Panthers on Saturday.  The boys are essentially our development team and a number of them had played very little rugby before this year.  Hopefully the future is also bright for the years to come with this lot of emerging talent.

Best Regards

Hi all,

This Saturday sees two of the form teams in the HK Premiership come head to head at Shek Kip Mei as Hong Kong Scottish take on Hong Kong Football Club, KO 6pm.

Scottish find themselves on a 4 game winning streak and will be looking to move up the table finally having caught up the gap that been created earlier in the season.

This is the biggest match so far for the club as we host Hong Kong's oldest club at our ground and we hope to give them a pretty hostile welcome from our vocal support and I know they think our ground is half way to China and have hired a bus! (it takes about 15 minutes in a cab from Central if you go through the Western tunnel for those that haven't been yet)  http://www.hkrugby.com/en/facilities/other-pitches/shek-kip-mei-sports-ground.html

Please, if this is the only game you make to this season, make the effort to get down on Saturday.  We have now beaten every team in the league this season apart from HKFC so it would be pretty special if we managed to complete the sweep of everyone in our first season.

In the lower league games, HK Scottish Nomads take on HKCC Freeze looking to continue their fantastic season that sees them lying 3rd in the league, only 6 points behind a vastly more experienced Valley Mustangs team.

Hong Kong Scottish III's take on University 3rds at THT on Saturday looking to build on yet another great performance last time out against Police Panthers.  The guys were initially meant to play in the Development league this season but wanted to test themselves in Community league 3.  They come up against guys twice their size most weeks but are always the best attendees at training come Tuesday and Thursday.  Keep up the good work guys and I'm sure that 2nd win will not be far away.

This weekend's fixtures:

Hong Kong Scottish vs Hong Kong Football Club, 6pm, Shek Kip Mei

Hong Kong Scottish Nomads vs HKCC Freeze, 3pm, Shek Kip Mei

Hong Kong Scottish III's vs University 3rd XV, 6pm, THT

For those going to the St Andrews Burns Supper on Friday night, a late afternoon at the rugby will be a perfect way to clear the head so I look forward to seeing you all there.

Hi all,

This Thursday (tomorrow) sees the final regular season match against Tradition Valley before Verizon Hong Kong Scottish embark on the playoffs.

The match kicks off at 7.30pm at Kings Park, Kowloon.  Click the link for directions.

After 4 wins in a row Scottish were brought back to earth with a bang with defeat by Hong Kong Football Club on Saturday so the boys will be keen to get things back on track at Kings Park.  Last week's game is now on the website.   The added incentive is to complete the league double over the reigning Grand Champions which will also see Valley finish second in the league with Kowloon taking the title.

Congratulations to Verizon Hong Kong Scottish Nomads who won their Community 1 fixture against HKCC Freeze 20-19.  A fantastic result that sees the lads confirmed as 3rd place finishers in the league and therefore a favourable draw in the playoffs.

Please continue to show your support for the guys.  The ovation we received following the HKFC game was incredible and proved that we have the best supporters in the league who get behind us irrespective of the result.  We look forward to seeing you all at the Valley game on Thursday night.

Best Regards
Dave

Hi all,

Saturday marks the first ever Playoff game for Verizon Hong Kong Scottish as they travel to Hong Kong Football Club to take on Newedge Club, KO 6pm.

With the league season now finished and the team finishing with an incredible 5 wins in their debut season, the slate is now wiped clean and we are into knock out finals.  Of all the places to get to play the fixture, I think all the boys are delighted to get to play it at Hong Kong Football Club as it simply adds to the occasion.

With a few players moving on at the end of the season, we are desperate to ensure that this is not their final game with HKS.  Please make every effort to get down and support the guys as it promises to be a high octane finals match.  After Club were surprised in last year's finals by DeA, they will be determined to put things right this year.  On the other hand, Club were the only team that Scottish failed to beat in the league this year and that is certainly something the guys want to put right on Saturday!

Verizon Hong Kong Scottish Nomads finish off their league campaign in Community 1 with a match against leaders Newedge Club Scorpions in the warm up match at Hong Kong Football Club at 4.30pm.  Come down early and enjoy a day at the HKFC so that you are ready for the bog one at 6pm!

Verizon Hong Kong Scottish IIIs play DeA 5ths at So Kon Po on Saturday at 6pm.

Saturdays fixtures:

Verizon Hong Kong Scottish vs Newedge Club, HKFC, 6pm

Verizon Hong Kong Scottish Nomads vs Newedge Club Scorpions, HKFC, 4.30pm

Verizon Hong Kong Scottish IIIs vs DeA 5ths, So Kon Po, 6pm

Please make every effort to make it down on Saturday to Hong Kong Football Club to cheer the boys on into the semi finals of the Grand Championship!

Best Regards
Dave

Hi all,

For all of you heading to the game on Saturday, please note that you will only be able to buy drinks from the blue tent bar at the opposite end of the pitch from the Sportsmans Bar using an Octopus card or someone's HKFC membership card.  Sorry for the inconvenience but they weren't willing to run a cash bar.

Hopefully we can make it an epic day so make sure the Octopus is fully loaded!

Best Regards
Dave

Hi all,

PLEASE SAVE THE DATE FOR 30TH MARCH,2012 FOR THE VERIZON HONG KONG SCOTTISH END OF SEASON DINNER AND MELROSE FUNDRAISER

We will be holding an end of season dinner at the South Pacific Hotel, Morrison Hill Road, Wanchai on 30th March to mark the inaugural season of Hong Kong Scottish.

The night will consist of awards for the players and people who have been invaluable to the success of the club this year and also to thank those who were behind the success of Nomads RFC before the takeover.

There will also be a raffle to raise money for the Melrose 7s tour two weeks later.

I know it is hot on the heals of the Hong Kong 7s but please make every effort to make it along to celebrate what has been an incredible season.

Places will be available through the purchase of tables or on an individual basis.  Tables will be made up of 10 people.

After my meeting with the Hotel tomorrow I will be able to confirm the costs (roughly HK$600 a head) but I wanted to get the save the date out early.

Best Regards
Dave
