I have a Canon G2 and want to buy a 256mb or 512mb card. Is there any reason
to buy one of the 24x Lexar) or 40x cards (Transcend)?

Looking at Newegg.com for prices here... http://tinyurl.com/eb6p
(Newegg is a trusted reseller with great customer ratings at
http://www.resellerratings.com )

I'm comparing between:
Dane-Elec 256MB (1x?) for $47
Transcend 256MB 30X $60
Lexar 4x found elsewhere for about $60
Lexas 24x for about $80

So, is the extra expense worth it for my G2 to get a faster "x" rating?

Would the card read faster on my Sandisk (USB 1.1)?

I have a G2 with a microdrive and a "plain vanilla" Sandiisk CFcard - each
1GB. The Sandisk takes about 1/3 longer to store a frame, and is about that
amount slower in transferring data via a card reader. This is very little
difference IMHO, even though the specs on the microdrive make it much faster
than the Sandisk. I assume the camera itself limits the amount of
improvement you can get.
