USA 2009: A mass transit game-changer

Safely landed after its short maiden flight. And with that,
a new chapter in post modern mass transit commenced. Bullet
train, and its likes are now obsoleted. Speedy as they are,
the transportation configuration is the cumbersome, and in-
efficient hub-and-spoke configuration, albeit in the linear
fashion.
Dreamliner, is designed for the point-to-point paradigm.
The sweet spot of modern high speed rail is within the 100-
500 mile range. Hopefully with few stops in between. That's
the equivalent of going between Tokyo and Sapporo in Japan,
San Diego and San Francisco in the US. Boeing's new plastic
plane competes well in those routes using smaller community
airfields.
And wins hands down on distances beyond ....
