Hi,

I have a HP 600 deskjet printer. I work to know how to install it in
Linux.

It seems that I need to
i) change the /etc/printcap file,
ii) make a lp0 file by mknod
iii) make a spool diretcory

Anything else I need to do?

I did all the things I mentioned above. But when I use "status" in
"lpc", it said "printer not ready", of course, I can't print anything.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I have a HP dj portable and just plug-in and cat the file to lp1 is ok.

Q: Have u compile the kernel for a printer!?

Bestregards
Louis

PS. HP dj may have staircase effect. Go to PRINT-HOWTO and look for it.

I have. When make config it simply ask if you have a printer. Answer yes.
It works then. What's the problem?
