Will you please suggest a resource or resources to help me organize
and integrate my triathlon training?

References for people, books, videos, and web sites that you found
most useful will be most welcome.

I feel that I will benefit from a schedule/plan to integrate the three
activities into one program rather then trying to continue to maintain
three different, discipline-specific programs.

Thank you in advance for your help and your thoughtful suggestions.

Hi Alan,

If you are looking for something online to review, 220 magazine do basic training plans for everything from sprint to ironman distance. If you have a look through here and have a look at some of the training plans, they might give you some inspiration. http://www.220triathlon.com/training

A book I have heard is good is The triathlete's training bible, I haven't read it myself, the size put me off!

If you need an online tool to track your training then training peaks is pretty good and it is free for the basic package.

If you are actually looking for a coach, then again there are options - there is a plethora of online coaching out there and there are coaches in Hong Kong. Andrew Wright at Tribal in Happy Valley offers coaching so it may be worth reaching out to him.

Good luck!

Hi Alan,

Good Book:
"Going Long" by Friel and Byrn (Gordo Byrn was somewhat of a legend in HK)
"Total Immersion" - Terry Laughlin
"Be Iron Fit" - Don Fink

Good Audio Resources (podcasts):
Endurance Nation - http://www.endurancenation.us/
Simon Gowen Triathlon - http://www.latalkradio.com/Simon.php

Websites you probably already know of:
www.beginnertriathlete.com
www.slowtwitch.com
www.swimsmooth.com

As for training plans, sooner or later the Dragon's should be announcing a club discount for the training planner at 2peak.com.  I think this is still pending final approval.  In any event, you can go to the website and sign up for a free trial to get an idea of what it can do for you.  You'll probably need a Garmin 310xt or the new 910xt to send the system data.  It will give you a training schedule according to your goals, availability and training data that you upload (e.g. heart rate, pace, distance, time, cadence, power, etc.)  In my view its a step up from training peaks.  Its not as fancy in terms of mapping and graphics but the algorithms behind the training plans are top-notch.

Good luck and happy training.

Danny
