Dragons,

I am looking at investing into a road bike. I have an 8 year Cervelo P2C but I want a bike I can conquer some hills on and do more distance comfortably. I really do not know much about them.. Any thoughts on a Pinarello Gan RS versus a Cervelo S3? Or any other brand recommendations for a great ladies fit? I went to Bull Bike yesterday and was a bit overwhelmed. The components on the Pinarello appear to be much better than Cervelo. thanks for any input.

Hi Darlene,

I bought and S3 a couple of months ago, swapped my Ultegra over as only needed a new frame and am very happy with it. Comfortable, nimble, holds speed well on the flats but also climbs nicely too.

Can't compare to a Pinarello accept I was advised they tend to have a longer geometry and I'm quite short on the body so though it might not suit.

Both sounds lovely though so enjoy whichever you end up with.

Best,

Paul

Check out Ride Cycling Review, the aussie version. They do a great review of around 5 bikes each publications. The reviewers are mechanics who tear apart the bikes and then reassemble as well as ride the bikes for several weeks as part of their review/analysis.

A few months ago they reviewed the cervelo, this time around they tested the pinerello dogma 8 amongst others

As an owner of a Pinarello and a Cervelo I can tell you that a Pinarello is an awesome all round bike that you cannot go wrong with .Cervelos are excellent too but mine is a climbing bike so I cannot comment on the S-range.

As Paul says though it is all about the fit and you should spend some time checking what bike is best for you . Tony Pringle of Bike Lab is an excellent source and Dragons sponsor and can give you some good advice too . His details are on the website

I have an S5 vwd and having come from a trek I'd say it feels stiff and less compliant but have got used to that. I have found the broad beam frame more susceptible to cross winds. Although once I put aero wheels on it the frame was least of my worries in a cross wind!
Biggest issue I had was mounting a saddle bag for spares on the aero seat tube but managed to jury rig something. Over all very happy with the bike. I do secretly lust after a Pinarello though...

Good luck!
