Hi all - three announcements today:
1. First, we are delighted to announce that we are restarting the weekday and weekend group rides.
With the continuing stabilisation of the Covid-19 infection rate, and now some partial reopening of sports facilities, it is with great pleasure that from Tuesday 12 May, we will be getting back to our regular rides! Yippee! Yes that means there will be a Peak ride on Tuesday! Watch this space!
While everyone has been very disciplined about their riding, running and swimming during these weeks, and observing all the necessary social distancing rules, it has been interesting to see how people have adapted to alternative training regimes with Zwift in particular proving very popular.
So in addition to the outdoor activities, we will seek to set up at least one indoor ride for the club, which will be led by a group of volunteers who have put their hand up to help host and post these whenever is convenient for them (If anyone else would like to be part of this group let me know and we will add you to the Zwift ride hosts chat).
For the outdoor rides, we still want to be responsible as a club, and so we are going to monitor group sizes very carefully. If we get more than eight in a group, we will stagger departure times. Also if you are under quarantine, not feeling well. or have been exposed to anyone who is under quarantine or diagnosed with Covid-19, then we must ask that you do not join us in any of our Dragons activities until your quarantine is over, or your symptoms are completely clear and you have been given a clean bill of health by a medical professional. We ask that everyone is honest about this as we do not wish to risk anyone’s health.
We also urge everyone to maintain social distance on any outdoor activities (i.e. keep at least one metre apart) and refrain from spitting, blowing your nose or any other fluid excretion until you get home!
Otherwise, it will be great to get back to riding as a group again and rekindling that great Dragons camaraderie!
2. We are launching for the the 8th consecutive year, the annual King of the Mountains and Queen of the Mountains competition, which is open to all (not just Dragons) and takes advantage of this wonderful city of ours by choosing the best hills and turning them into a race to see who is the quickest up them!
There are 16 carefully chosen hills, the details of which, along with the rules of the competition are all here: http://www.hktriclub.com/kom Many of the segments will already be familiar to you and you will already have a time up them, but there are always two new ones! Check out the link to see which ones they are. Good luck!
Finally, if anyone wants to post their own rides, runs or swims and would not mind some company, feel free to do so here, again ensuring that you do the sensible thing with maintaining all the social distancing precautions outlined above and that the Hong Kong government continues to recommend. For all the details of the government’s requirements around this, see here: https://www.coronavirus.gov.hk/eng/social_distancing-faq.html#FAQ1
Really looking forward to getting going again and seeing as many of you as possible on the road or in the water - or even on Zwift!
