Dear colleagues:

As many of you know, we are privileged to have Dale Dougherty (founder of the modern Maker Movement) at the Makers Meetup on Sept 19th. https://www.meetup.com/Makers-Meetup/events/240739675/ We are technically sold out, but will continue to take RSVP’s for a few days more (assuming some folks won’t show since the tickets are free). That same day, Dale is testifying before City Council about how to transform Philly into a Maker City (he’s literally written the book about this). https://makercitybook.com/

Of course, MAKE is best known for their Maker Faires; more than 2 million people have attended these events globally (including 100,00 at the Faire in NYC).

I am proposing that we organize a Mid-Atlantic Maker Faire, mini-sized to start, sometime next June - venue and other details TBD. If you are interested to volunteer (or be a financial sponsor) to help make this happen please get back to me at your earliest. If there’s enough interest, I’ll share these prospective plans with Dale during his visit.

Marvin
