Hi everybody!

Today's goal was to asses what we have and determine some short term goals.  I gathered everything we had collected that could be useful and took count and pictures of all of it.  Pictures can be found here: https://picasaweb.google.com/agent.craig/Hive13ArcadeProject9102011InventoryDay?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCKuZiLS09ayPDw&feat=directlink

I've updated the wiki as well and can be found here: http://wiki.hive13.org/Hive13_Cabinet

Here is quick inventory breakdown:

  • Buttons
    • 5 Brownish ones
    • 10 Yellow
    • 35 Red
    • 12 Green
    • 13 Black
    • 63 Blue
    • 38 White
    • 1 Orange
    • 1 Player 1
    • 2 Player 2
    • 2 Player 3
    • 1 Player 4
    • A few assorted other buttons
  • 15 Trackballs
  • 2 New 8-way joysticks
  • 1 Old 8-way joystick
  • 4 cup holders (each holds 2 cups)
  • 1 Intercard reader
  • 1 j-Pac controller

I will be buying a logbook to keep near the cabinet that we can keep notes and progress info on.  Ideally this information will be moved to the worklog section of the wiki but for now that is probably the quickest and easiest way to take notes and have others pickup where you left off.  We are going to use Masonite and cut 3 modular section for the control panel. The idea is that these section can be created via the laser cutter and could be swamped out as new people have new ideas and designs.

We've also decided to not use the attached machine.  It would be better to just buy or acquire a good gaming motherboard and video card and mount it inside the base of the cabinet.  Then we can put plexiglass in front to make it look nice.  The better the machine the more games we can put on it.

We also need to clean.  The cabinet needs cleaning.  The buttons will need some loving.  Thinking of using that green stuff under the sink (mean green?) and just letting them soak for a bit.  Once I get new containers to put them all in we can clean and move them into there as they get cleaned up.  The wiki has some more details as well.
