Hi Sungwoo,

I tried replying to your message in the group but it didn't show up.
This is my environment:

Hive: 3.1.2
Hadoop: 3.3.6 (YARN)
Spark: 3.5.2 (same cluster, if relevant)
Java: 8
Cluster: 200 vCores, 800GB RAM

Thanks,
Farah

I got your message. We will upload a binary release of Hive 3.1.3 on MR3 2.1 and get back to you.

I uploaded the binary release of Hive 3.1.3 on MR3 2.1:

https://github.com/mr3project/mr3/releases/download/v2.1/hive3-mr3-2.1.tar.gz

Please try the quick start guides:

https://mr3docs.datamonad.com/docs/quick/

The documentation is written for Hive 4 on MR3, but with minor changes, you should be able to run Hive 3 on MR3. In particular,

1. install.sh should be executed with https://github.com/mr3project/mr3/releases/download/v2.1/hive3-mr3-2.1.tar.gz

2. Set HIVE_REV in hadoop/env.sh:

HIVE_REV=3.1.3

Please note that Hive3-MR3 runs with Java 17+. For achieving the best performance, I would like to suggest Java 22 which is faster than Java 17. You need to install Java 17+ on every machine in your cluster.

If you encounter any problem, please report here, or ask at MR3 Slack.

Cheers,

--- Sungwoo
