Greetings,

Yes, the American Academy of HIV Medicine is planning on launching our HIV-AGE blog on that day for ongoing discussions of treatment options for HIV over 50 patients

There are many events/presentations happening that focus on the NHAAAD - but are not specifically on that date. I hope you want to  include those as well ?

Attached is one that occurred this week.

Thanks....Steve

Cheers,

National HIV/AIDS & Aging Awareness Day Webinar

HIV POLICY & PROGRAMS
September 14, 2012

By Deb LeBel, Partnerships Specialist, AIDS.gov

National HIV/AIDS and Aging Awareness DaySeptember 18, 2012 will mark the fifth annual observance of National HIV/AIDS and Aging Awareness Day(NHAAAD).  This year’s theme is “Aging is a part of life: HIV doesn’t have to be!” The lead organization for the day is The AIDS Institute Exit Disclaimer.

With this observance, The AIDS Institute and its partnersnationwide work to reach people living with HIV/AIDS who are aging with the disease or already over 50 at the time of their initial diagnosis and grandparents who are primary guardians for children who have lost their parent(s) to HIV/AIDS. The day provides an opportunity to focus on the many issues facing the aging population with regards to HIV prevention, testing, care and treatment.

The AIDS Institute will host a “HIV/AIDS and Aging” webinar on September 18, 2012 from 1:00 PM (EST) -2:30 PM (EST). Michelle Scavnicky, Director of Education and Capacity Building Assistance Programs, told us that the session will include a call to action for HIV awareness, education and prevention for older adults. Webinar participants will hear about collaborations at the federal level to address HIV among older adults.  The session will describe needs for research on older adults living with HIV. Speakers will include Dr. Timothy Harrison, Senior Policy Advisor, Office of HIV/AIDS and Infectious Disease Policy, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Stephen Karpiak,PhD, ACRIA Center on HIV & Aging, and NYU.

To register or to learn more about this educational event, click here Exit Disclaimer. Capacity is limited.
