Hope everyone's okay... it's been pretty quiet on this list (though a
couple of you have been in touch directly). Some FAQs:
Food? Still working on it. Looking into J.J. Dolan's across the
street, Ono to Go, and a caterer. Our budget is limited, so that's the
challenge.
Japan? Yes, every Twestival around the world wants to support their
local cause, as well as the tsunami relief efforts. We can't change
our primary beneficiary, but of course we can promote donations for
the Japan crisis. Anyone have a contact at the Hawaii Red Cross?
Perhaps they can set up a table at The Venue?
Sponsors? Only two, but at this point, I think we can make do. Still
waiting on some prize donations. As above, a lot of attention has been
directed elsewhere, understandably.
Ticket Sales? Few. Going to try and get some professional PR support
and rally some mainstream media coverage, but unlike the first
Twestival in 2009, social-media powered events aren't much of a
novelty anymore, and there are a lot of events competing for attention
(and many with lower prices). It comes down to the Twitter and
Facebook community in Honolulu to rally, and like you, I'll do the
best I can. Jason, our Chinatown ambassador, thinks we can draw the
already active Chinatown crowd at the door. We shall see!
Thanks, all. Please chime in if you need anything. I value your
support, and if you need something to maximize your contribution, just
let me know.
