It's that time again!

As you may recall, we haven't done the mid-term, fall, "local" Twestival event, saving our energy for the main, annual, global event. This year, though, the main, annual global event IS a "local" event -- each city's Twestival will benefit a local charity, rather than a global one (like "Charity: Water").

In any case, this is the standard roll call to see who's interested in organizing this third annual event -- and no sweat if you're not, heaven knows, being spread too thin is my standard state! But I did want to keep as many "veterans" as I can before seeking out some fresh meat. I mean, fresh faces. Yeah, that's it.

As for the local charity, off the top of my head, I've been thinking about the Hawaii Foodbank or the Blood Bank of Hawaii, but of course it'll be decided by whomever steps forward here... and whether any local charity would be interested in being the beneficiary.

Valentino is already at work on a 2011 logo!

Ryan

I'm in Ryan. Happy to help. If I may, I definitely think the Food bank or River Mission given the economy. Could we invite the blood bank to take blood donations on property?

Also just did an event at 'The Venue' great sound system, stage AND you can bring in food from wherever!;)

Thanks for taking the lead!

Ryan and all. Great to see that Twestival will focus on a local charity. My vote goes out to the Hawaii Food Bank. Just a few weeks ago when I talked to Polly of HFB she mentioned that they were down to a 13 day supply of food so I know that they are in desperate need of help and support.

I unfortunately will not be able to participate, help or attend this year's Honolulu Twestival due to my government commitment. Been doing work ups and training everyday since January 2nd and got about another week or so before heading out for tasking. Won't be back till somewhere between Jul and Sep.

Thanks Ryan for taking charge again and I know you and all in the team will have much success again this year!

Aloha,
Vernon

Mahalo, Bruce, Yaling, and Kelly! And thanks for replying, Vern,
though we certainly understand your other commitments!

Last year's Twestival was a modest affair, and I suspect the same this
year (nothing quite matches up to the rush of a 'first ever'). Still,
I'd like to again do something to continue to demonstrate Hawaii's
social media savvy as part of this global event.

Glad to hear support for the Food Bank or River Mission, and a neat
idea to include the Blood Bank as well. I'm attaching a PDF that
Twestival just published with its charity selection guidelines.

In short, we do need to make a public call for ideas, though we as an
organizing committee can select, but the charity has to be willing to
be a beneficiary, have a plan for the funds, and have a social media
presence. (Many deserving groups, I imagine, will qualify.)

I'll put out a basic call for suggestions/nominations as @hitwestival,
and your help in a retweet or two would be greatly appreciated! Let's
see how much we can get done virtually before calling a meeting. Also,
if you can think of anyone else who can contribute and volunteer some
time, please bring them to the table!

Mahalo,

Ryan

Ryan and team,

Really wish I could have done more to help in Honolulu Twestival this year, but it seems it's all coming together nicely. As I mentioned earlier I would like to contribute $200 to the cause on behalf of 808Talk. Feel free to use in anyway necessary for the event. Ryan please let me know how I can get this to you. I can PayPal it if that works, but let me know what's best for you. I also plan to purchase a few tickets as well in support of the event to get some more people out there.

Great job once again everybody and I look forward to joining in the action via the Honolulu Twitter stream on Thursday.

Aloha,
Vernon

Thanks so much for your support, Vernon, even from afar, and with so
much else on your plate! We're hoping to do you proud in your absence
with our musical program, and Jason Tom has been an extremely
energetic and connected coordinator -- thanks to Bruce for bringing
him in!

We've sold 50 tickets, which was my "floor" for this smaller
Twestival, so I think whatever we can muster in turnout over the next
three days will feel great. There should be some at-the-door as well.
Can we hit 100? The thing is, our catering order with DH Catering
assumes a count of 50, so though it may be presumptuous of me, I think
the best use for your contribution is to bolster our food order if and
when it becomes necessary. Kelly, your thoughts? If this makes sense,
we can work on getting Vernon's donation to you, along with Farmers
Hawaii (which will need an invoice).

Sounds good. Just let me how you want me to send the funds...and who to send it to. You all know better than me at this point where it is best needed so use as necessary. Just wanted to contribute to the cause and happy to do so. I also did up a post on 808Talk yesterday and sent out some emails to contacts as well as posted the info to my FB and TWT friends. Hope it all helps.
