Glad to see that the group is growing by the day. The FOAF (Friend Of A
Friend) network, is a very effective technique. Keep up your efforts!!
I am also very glad to share a very good news about our Hitech City
JUG.
I have contacted Rick Ross to get some help in shaping up our JUG and
its activities. For those who do not know Rick, he is down-to- earth
and a great guy who is also the founder of JavaLobby.org network of
sites that help a much larger group of Java Professionals worldwide.
Rick offered to host our website for free and provide necessary tools
to manage its setup/content. Here is an excerpt of his reply to my
request:

First, Javalobby will be delighted to provide you with free hosting for
your website on our hosting server. Just let me know, and I'll be glad
to set up an account for you. The system uses DirectAdmin and
Installatron, which together help you get a lot of functionality with
very little effort. Javalobby also has our JUGCentral.com service,
where I see you have created an account.
Second, we can also get you (and others) included in our book review
activities to start getting you titles for review.

I have just now registered www.hitechcityjug.org at GoDaddy. I will get
the details of the website setup from Rick soon after the domain is
activated (typically takes couple of days for activation).
WHAT WE NEED IS VOLUNTEERS who are interested in:
1. Setting up the hitechcityjug.org website, graphics, content etc.
2. Reviewing the books, products etc.
If you are the one RAISE YOUR HAND NOW!

"We need some one to "play with these tools" and come up with a list of
tools
(offered by installatron) that would help in quickly create
functionality
such as mailing lists, discussion forums, blogs, event calendars, book
reviews, Hitech City JUG member specials (discounts on coupons), member
registration for the meetings, Java resource links, polling etc."
I will try in free time.
lets make everything work by the time our first meeting happens(or
after first meeting so we can get feeedback from other member?)
regards,
Adi.
Srinivas Ivaturi.
Another good news... Dave Thomas and Andy Hunt, "The Pragmatic
Programmers" will be mailing us few copies of Pragmatic Books that we
can raffle at our JUG seminars on related topics. I think we should be
getting some support from local companies as well. Will discuss more in
our thursday's meeting.
Thank you,
Chakra.
