1. Build Community: First, we should promote this Hitech City JUG and
build a community of active members. We can do that by simply including
a link in email signatures, in your personal website or blog, shoot an
email to friends. The first wave of this promotion should be targeted
at the experienced Java professional. In the next wave, after couple
months, we will target all - Experienced Java Professionals, Freshers
and Students who would like to build their careers on technologies
related to Java.
2. Meeting Schedule: When the group is around 25 or greater, we should
plan our first gathering to decide on certain basic points such as
which day of week is convenient for the members to get together, how
many times we meet every month etc. Example: we meet on second Thursday
of every month.
3. Meeting Facility: Depending on how big we are, we will have to find
a facility to fit the members when they meet for the monthly seminars
etc. I currently have a place in Hitech City that can accommodate about
35 to 40 members for a small meeting. If you are working in one of the
big buildings in Hitech City, it would be better to approach your
HR/Admin department to see if you can get an auditorium for one day a
month.
4. Presentations: We need to pick the topics for the monthly
presentations. One of us could take the initiative to give a
presentations on the topic they are comfortable with. We should also
try to arrange a presentation when one of the well known personalities
(for example: Java/Open source/JCP Expert Group Members) are in and
around Hyderabad.
5. Sponsor our JUG: We also need to find which companies are willing to
sponsor our meetings. They could contribute whatever they can to help
this JUG, starting with providing a facility for our meet ups etc.

Chakra - This is good see a start of the JUG @ Hyderabad. I apprecite your efforts to have kick started this. I know that there are many people who are interested to be part of such a java group.
And also the action plan seems reasonable at least for now, to get started.

Yes, that is true! We need to have more members into our group to build
strong community. I expect some good numbers by this month end if we
follow the process of blogging, linking about group, email signatures,
and with word of mouth.
